Electro-Guard Model 451B Galvanometer, Volt Meter, Continuity Tester
This is a Lab-Volt Electro-Guard Model 451B DC Galvanometer and combination Continuity Tester. Volt Meter and Ammeter. It also has the names Buck Engineering Co and General Electric Co. on the meter face. The meter has four functions. Switch selectable with the control knob. The first function is a continuity tester using an internal 1.5 volt C-cell battery and the two input test connections. The second function is a 0.5 VDC meter. The third and fourth functions are a 5 MADC galvanometer and a 0.5 MADC galvanometer. All functions work. There is an internal potentiometer which I assume can be used to calibrate the meter. I do not have a manual or any other information about the meter. No test leads are included. It is in very good physical condition and works electrically. Shipping to USA destinations only.

There is an ON/OFF switch on the top as well as terminals for the leads. There is a vertical crack in the glass approximately in the center of the scale plus a smaller crack from approximately from the 6 o'clock position to the 4 o'clock position. The meter wood enclosure measures approximately 6-1/4" tall X 3-3/8" wide(without probe holders) 4-3/4" wide(with probe holders) X 1-3/4" thick. The two leads are about 36" long each. The little white specks that you see in the pictures ... moreare white paint. It looks like the meter was near a place a paint roller had been used. They should come off fairly easily. Knobs, and switches are present and in excellent condition. The basic meter movement itself appears to be open. Very clean inside; nothing looks like it’s blown. This instrument might work fine if you have a replacement meter. In any case. If you need parts to fix your 260, this one is a good bet. Also included is a CD containing the complete Simpson 260 Operator’s manual(27 pages) with specifications. Operating instructions. Maintenance instructions, schematic diagram, and parts listing. Up for auction is an antique Siemens& Halske Berlin Germany 7 range Direct Current DC Volt& Amperemeter meter distributed in USA by James G. Biddle Philadelphia. Looks like is from around 1900. The meter movement works fine, I have not tested any of the 7 ranges. The meter itself is 6-1/4” wide X 5-1/2” high, the wood base 7-1/4” wide X 8” and is quite heavy for its size. With the brass peg for choosing the range, and both binding posts are complete. Please note that the glass window is missing, and dial face has some stains and light wear.
