I believe this chair dates from the 1920's; a Ritter Dental Chair; Ritter Distinctively Different" Ritter Company, Inc. Made in the USA in Rochester NY; every manual lever works; one lever raises the chair up and down by"pumping" one lever reclines the chair; one lever raises and lowers the back of the chair; one lever rotates the chair 360 degrees and one lever locks the chair in any position; one lever puts the chair in any position from sitting to laying down with a variety of positions in between; the cushions are in very good condition and are very flexible; there is one small tear about 1/4" on the back of the chair(easily repairable) there are a couple of minor"marks" on the cushion, possibly heel marks; ... moreboth chair cushions are black leather; the tag on the bottom cushion reads"Cascade M/D Products, Supplex Dental Equipment; serial#967307; the seat width measures 18" and is 6" thick; seat length is 49" the back rest measures 16" wide x 16" long and is 4 1/2" thick; the arm rests measure 17" each; the chair sits on a steel base which measures 24" diameter; from the seat down, the piece measures 22 1/2" from the seat up, piece measures over 39" both arm rests adjust down to easily get in and out of the chair; this is a wonderful antique dental chair; leather is in great condition with no dry rot at all; a piece in this condition is extremely hard to find; a very useable piece of Dental Equipment as well as collectible piece; chair is in the wonderful mint green color of days gone by; this piece is HEAVY; it can be picked up locally or we can ship it to you FREE with UPS Freight(quite a value/savings on a 400 lb piece) Check out my! Ritter Classic 1930's Dental/BODY PIERCER Chair/w Detachable Exam Light & Tray
This chair as it sits is used for a Piercing station in a Tattoo Studio. It's re-upholstered in red leather and re-painted in black. It's in excellent working condition and has been maintained by a certified mechanic twice in the past 10 years. The only thing that needs attention is the swivel stop peddle. I have looked into this matter with a tool and die company and they say it would cost around $200 to fix it. So I've taken $250 off my original selling price. The chair sits on a circular frame that holds the pole for the 2 separate arms which are the exam light and exam tray which is very convenient for a Body Mod/Piercer. SHIPPING: Shipping this is not going to be cheap, but I have spoken with FED EX FREIGHT and PAK MAIL(near me) personally and have an estimate. Average of 300lbs. cause I'm not sure exactly what it weighs ... moreand depending how far it will be going from my city. 1900 miles away from me will cost roughly $350. 500 miles would be roughly $200. I did not test anything. The light is Castle brand. The motor for the drill turns over easily. But there is no drive belt for the drill. I forgot to include in the photos there is a milk glass shield that gets installed on the left side near the sink. Should be a glass bowl for the sink, but that is broken/missing. This vintage Ritter floor mounted dental unit is such an amazingpiece of American Industrial history. I love art deco design as well as the jadeite greencolor. As you can see in the photos itdoes need some TLC; but it has been stored in a shed and the metal is inexcellent condition. There are a just fewmissing pieces. Such as the glass tray that would go over the black round wheelthat drill is on in the photo. Mostlikely these parts can be found right here on e-bay. As you can see it is pretty intact but could definitelyuse some old fashioned elbow grease and a good cleaning. I have found some historical information on the Ritter Company andthe evolution of this dental unit as well as an adverting photo of this particularunit. The Tri-Dent Models B and C were floor mounted dental unitsintroduced in the 1920s. The Tri-Dent Model B with its ... moreswinging type cuspidor.Light and engine lathe were all mounted on a single pedestal. The Model CTri-Dent had it's cuspidor mounted on a separate pedestal. The Model E Unit with its patented warm water and warm air coulddeliver both directly to the patient. It was also equipped with a low voltagediagnostic instrument which. Until that time, had been a separate piece ofequipment. The Model E Unit came out in the 1930s and was an updated versionof the Model B. Likewise the Model F Unit was an updated Model C. With thesedental units the dentists had within his reach all the essentials: air, gas,water and electricity. The air and water appliances were under finger-tipcontrol. The electrically operated instruments were shut off automatically whenthey were returned to their respective holders. The chair had 2 electric cords, one will need plug, when plugged in it would operate the electric part of the chair, the hydraulic didn't seem to work. The 2 Large machines, needed to be wired before testing, but the lights had separate plugs, they were checked and do work. Also, the assistants chair has a small hole along the seam, very small. I am not sure about X-Ray equipment, I cannot test. I purchased this from a individual that purchase a house, and this left in basement. This Ritter chair is used but in excellent working condition. It is hard to find this style of chair in the great condition this one is. It is electric for the up and down. Has several different adjustments for the lean, arm adjustments and headrest. It will lock in place or can be rotated. If you will notice in the photos it has very little surface rust on the platform. The seat has a little wear but still in good condition. It is an very sturdy chair, American made. It would make a great tattoo chair, barber chair or a great conversation piece in a game room. It is very heavy and almost indestructible. Vtg Antique 1930's Ritter Dental Medical Motor Chair Headrest Part Model B
This is a headrest off of an old Ritter dental chair. I'm pretty sure this came off of a Model B chair. But I might be wrong. This came out of a local building that had a few dentists offices in it from the 1900's to the 1950's. The headrest is in excellent condition. It doesn't have any rust at all. All of the original paint is intact and all of the parts move freely and clamp tightly. It has a little loss to the chrome finish, but still looks very sharp. You're probably not going to be able to find one in better un-restored condition. Because it is an adjustable piece it would be hard for mt to give exact dimensions. This is an antique Ritter dental chair with a cherry red finish. The operatory chair has mechanical arms that are still in working order. Its previous home was in a dental office for over 60 years. The chair has no rips in the upholstery and has not been refinished or repainted. It is in the original condition and was lovingly taken care of. Here is a fabulous dentist chair from the 1950's or 1960's. Works and has many settings. Up and down. The back tilts almost to flat position, the headrest adjusts up and down. The base swivels and has a lock. The one side arm lowers for patient to get in and out of chair easily. The opposite side, the right hand side does not lower although there is the same configuration as the other side. It may just be stuck. The power cord was severed, but for testing purposes, I jerry-rigged another plug to the cord and it functions very nicely. It hydraulically powers up and uses gravity to lower when the down lever is depressed. This would be a very funny and comfortable piece to any man cave, een if you are not a dentist! Just think, EVERYONE has sat in one of these but NOT to watch the Superbowl or a favorite movie.hilarious! The retro green ... morecolor is great and the chrome really sets it off. A bit more elbow grease never hurts. A few minor flaws in the upholstery as seen in pics, but nothing terrible. Now the bad news, it is extremely heavy. Last, when it is raised to its highest point, the chair rocks back and forth enough to make the person lying in it to suddenly grab on and say"Holy S- I don't know if that can be fixed but this only happens when it is maxed out. This is an old hydraulic Ritter dentist chair from I believe the 30's or 40's. The hydraulics are not working and it needs some work on the seat and headrest. But with a little work this chair could be looking spectacular and working again. It is very heavy so it has to be local pickup only- UNLESS you know how to have it shipped and can arrange to have it picked up. I have a bad back and cannot move it myself.
