c.1780's-1800 sheet iron Candlestick* This sheet iron candlestick measures 5 1/2" high and has an ejector to push out the old candle stub for replacement. Having very crude construction. The base has a hand cut iron nut holding the parts of stick together and there is a small hook on candlecup so it could hung on the back of a chair when reading at night. Pair Mid 18th Century English Side Ejector Candle Sticks
This is an unusually nice pair of saucepan candlesticks. They have been referred to as English as well as Scandinavian. I believe them to be the latter. They are constructed of cast brass parts and nicely turned decoration and they have the nice pierced side ejectors. A rare pair to find in this condition with the injectors. They have the coarse heavy threads. Typical of the early period. They are 5 1/2" tall x 4 1/2" diameter round base. Pair of mid 19th century spring ejector candle holders
This pair of candlesticks are probably made by"Cornelius" of Philadelphia or one of his contemporaries. They are constructed of light weight sheet brass and have a spring pusher inside the column that automatically moves the candle up as it burns. Clever idea. But the ones I found are usually jammed up with candle wax. One measures 9 1/2" high; the other 12 1/2" high. The bases are 5 1/8" round. Refer to the"Brass Book" pg 174. Pair of 18th or Early 19th Century Side Ejector Candlesticks
This is an unusually nice pair of tall side ejector candlesticks. They are constructed of both sheet brass. Rolled and seamed,and cast brass. The side ejectors became in vogue during the Queen Anne period and continued until the push up rod appeared in the late 18th century. They are in good to excellent condition with some minor denting in the brass shaft and a small casting fracture in one bobeche. They measure 9" tall with a 4 1/4" round decorated base. Made of Old Sheffield Plate, the large circular support is decorated with a gadrooned border, and has a scroll handle decorated with scrolls and gadrooning, with aperture for a candle snuffer(missing) The stem has an open aperture for wick trimmers(missing) with a rare sliding mechanism to eject the candle, a gadrooned decorarted candle sconce, a rare pricket within the candle nozzle, to hold the candle in place. This chamberstick is unmarked. It measures 17.5 cm in width and 10.0 cm in width. It weighs 490 grams. These nice items are ex-Royal Air Force/ Royal Navy Aircrew Leg Restraints. These fasten round the pilot’s legs and clip on to the ejector seat and are dated Jan 98. The condition of both of these restraints is exceptional and they look to be very little used as the `Velcro` on these items normally picks up various bits of fabric& fluff. These look to be new. The straps again look to be unused and it’s the only buckles and labels which show some marks which I would put down to handling& storage. The buckles and connectors have a nice strong action and overall these are the best we have seen and are `Rare` in this condition.
