Fabulous set of 4 vintage porcelain demitasse cups and saucers by George Jones crescent china. The little cups all have pierced work holders made from hallmarked solid sterling silver. The set has floral design within the base of the saucer and the base of the cup interior and a green band which has gilt overlay in a delicate geometric design. The outer band is of gilt decoration in a floral branch design and a wavy edge. The saucer diameter is approx 12cm. The cups are just under 6cm and the rim is approx 6cm dia with a wavy edge. The holders are a delicate pierced work design with rococo style handles. The silver is in good condition save for a small area on one which lies just behind the handle and a small area of the pierced work is missing but this is not very noticeable. They are all hallmarked Lion passant sterling silver- town assay- ... moreBirmingham- date letter for 1934. The little cups fit into the holders perfectly. The cups and saucers are in very good condition with just minor wear to the gilt. One cup has a hairline crack on the inner surface from the rim which I have tried to show in photo 5. This very beautiful set of 4"trios" is made in the traditional Japanese moriage dragonware style. Except that it features a base color of orange& cream instead of charcoal. They were made at the Tashiro Shoten Ltd. pottery between 1934-1954. In this pattern, the blue eyed dragon flies among clouds painted in pastel blue& pinks on a cream colored base. Rims and bases are decorated with deeper orange/brown. White moriage beading lines the rims, while brown geometric moriage accents decorate all handles. The cups have a gorgeous shiny orange luster inside. Just dazzling. We have a teapot. The handle is wire and wood wrapped with a plastic material. I see no real damage to the pot no chips, nicks or hair lines. The 4 cups have the same design on them just on one side only. The cups are white inside and Cobalt outside. One of the cups has a tiny chip at the rim with a hair line running down the side to the bottom. Seems to be very tight and strong. German Deco period Fuchsia and gold demitasse or childs cups and saucer sets 4
I have for auction this evening a stunning set of four made in Germany deco period fuchsia or"hot pink" and white demitasse or childs cups and saucers. The pieces feature a pink lustre glaze that has been applied over the white porcelain body in places and the rest has been left white. On the white sections there are raised decorations in dots and a flower has been designed onto the face of each cup that is outlined and accented in gold to make them pop. Gold has also been used as accents on the cups body and handle as well as on the saucer in the center were the cup sits. Both the cup and saucer have a scalloped edge that gives added eye appeal. Dimensions and dating: All measurements are approximate. Each cup measures 1.75" tall and has a rim diameter of 2" Each saucer measures 4.25" in diameter and is slightly ... morecupped. These pieces date from the 1920's-1930's by the mark. Condition report: These pieces are in very near mint condition with no chips. Cracks, crazing or usage wear that I can see and the gold appears to be very nearly fullyintact with only minor wear.
