Two Antique Or Vintage Mercury Glass Ribbed Vases - Heavy Glass
This auction is for a pair of vintage mercury glass vases with a ribbed design that measure 7" high. 3" across the top and 2 3/4" across the base. One of the vases had floral designs painted on and I couldn't tell if the other had been painted, but they are both pretty shabby looking. They are in fair condition with losses to the mercury finish, but no cracks or chips and these are heavy glass, so from what I've read, they are very old. There are holes in the bottom of the vases and I believe this is common on this type of glass. Before bidding. But true period, mid-to-late 19th c. hand-blown& hand-painted, Mercury Glass vase executed in a very intense shade of yellowish-green. Though I did not place this piece under blacklighting, I am nearly positive it will fluoresce. This is a standard"bud-vase" with small interior well, and featuring a distinct and crude pontil within its base as photographed for detail in picture No. 8. Vase features a wonderful"bulbus grecian" shape design, along with a hand-painted floral cameo on its front. This is a spectacular piece of glass I've had in my collection for quite some time. Vintage: c.1850s-1870s. Measurements: Vase measures 4.75" in overall height- 2.25" ... morelip/rim diameter- 2.25" base diameter. Hallmarks: None noted; Unmarked/unbranded. Provenance: Private Estate- Poughkeepsie. NY. Condition: Vase appears to be in"Very Good" overall condition with NO chips. Cracks, nibs, hairlines or repairs. Up for auction is a very nice. Handcrafted, silver, Mercury dime bracelet with a matching ring and pendant(no chain) The green stones register at Jadeite on a Presidium gem tester. These were made by a local jeweler when going to school years ago. The 9 Mercury dimes on the bracelet date from 1941 to 1945. The ring and pendant do not have dimes but are made from coin silver and the settings match the bracelet.
