More than 300 items are included in this lot. The pictures are a sampling of the material types included. The items are vintage and range between the 1890s and mid-century. There may have been something or another from the 1980s that slipped by me. But I don't think there are any items beyond the 1970s. Not much in the 1890s era, but lots that date to the year 1900-ads from this year. Also, all items are original or original book prints. No reproductions on my part and most all of this stuff I've picked up while buying old books/postcards for myself. I've been in libraries for the past 20 years, so I hit all the book sales I could find for many years. Though some had shot bindings, I found that the prints inside were perfectly wonderful! So, this lot is ideal for anyone that is interested in older memorabilia, art or historical ... moreprints. It's certainly a good lot for dealers or collectors as these items could be sold separately. I had thought to do that, but it's not my line of business and while I've got a good handle on books, I can't imagine the time it would take me to research and value each item. In this lot there are a couple booklets. News clippings, picture clippings, larger prints, newspaper adds, magazine ads, art, etc.If you're interested, I could probably tell you where most of these came from-though not all as this stuff has been packed up for some time. The Civil War prints are mainly from the 1912-1914 era. The Currier and Ives prints I believe are from the 1940s. That Van Gogh print is from the French Magazine L'Illustration(1929 issue) and the ads, as I mentioned, date mostly from journals dated to year 1900. The postcards range as you can see in pics. All in all. This is just a rich sampling; I suppose even scrapbook fans would enjoy using many of these items. Louisiana. Donaldson. Slavery. Newspaper "Le Creole" with Slave Ads, 1829
As we seem to be in a newspaper mode we offer a newspaper out of Donaldson. Louisiana, dated 18 Juillet 1829. The paper measures 16 x 23, with very large margins, four pages with pages 1-2 in French, and the last two entirely in English. Interesting chiefly we suppose because of the numerous advertisements relating to slavery. At least 20 are in English, and perhaps ten or so in French. Most deal with runaway slaves who were obviously, in most cases, attempting to secure some freedom for themselves. As one reads all these ads the reader cannot help but marvel at the illusory world in which the slave-holders lived, as if the word"freedom" meant nothing to those in bondage. At any rate, the paper is in generally good condition with the folds(particularly the spine-fold) still strong, and the one split of about four inches unobtrusively ... morerepaired. There is also news about the Iberville College(in both languages) and tid-bits of news from abroad as well as from Knoxville, St. Louis, From the Pacific. Most of these, however, were simply excerpted from other newspapers, a common enough practice. Payment via Paypal, though other forms of payment are usually accepted. Rare April, 1895 "The Cosmopolitan" Magazine-Illustrated/Articles/Ads-FREE SHIP
Hello& Welcome, Here's a wonderful edition of the April. 1895"The Cosmopolitan" illustrated monthly magazine that's in VERY GOOD condition. Actually, for being 106 years old I think it's in great condition, but I'm not an expert. It measures approximately 10" by 7" The pictures are of the front, inside cover, back, backside cover and of the binding edge. Full of interesting articles, beautiful illustrations/art and great old advertisements. It contains approximately 150 pages(the first numbered page is 644 and the last numbered page is page 768 and then there's approximately 20-30 pages of advertisements that aren't numbered) Though a little rough around the edges there's no loose pages and the binding is in fair condition. As may be seen in the photo's the binding should be re-glued ... moreas it's coming loose. This is still a very nice old magazine. Should you like more photo's or have any questions, please ask. Here is wonderful booklet from the 1890s. The copyright date is 1894 and the indide pages have calendar dates for 1896-1897. The booklet includes information about postage rates. Medical problems like“Consumption” etc. There is one page showing entries that have been entered in pencil. There is some writing– a name– written at the top of the front cover. It is an invaluable quick and handy reference if you have any interest in things Scottish clans. It measures approx 4.75" x 3.75" and it has 96 different clans identified. These are woofers out of my ADS a/d/s L1230 speakers. A long time ago I had cats who used to try and jump on top of the speakers and caused the damage you see. I would rate the damage as moderate- the speaker still work and sound fine. But they have the claw marks. pics show the damage. I hear these can be re-coned but I was lucky enough to find a pair of NOS replacements a number of years back. These would be good

With a smiling elderly man sitting in a doorway holding an ad in his hand for Cream of Wheat, which pictures what must be his son as the Cream of Wheat Chef. The copyright on this one is 1911, and this is printed on paper with nothing on the reverse side. It measures 10" by 13 1/2" The paper is intact, but a bit crumpled/ crinkled. The second is titled THE HELPER, with a little boy in a too large chefs hat handing boxes of Cream of Wheat to the Cream of Wheat Chef himself, who is putting the cereal boxes away. The copyright of this one is 1916, and this is an actual page out of a magazine dated May 1916(please see photos) It measures 11" by 14" The page has faint fold lines, ... moresome tears, chips and discoloration along the edges, and a piece of scotch tape on the back side measuring 2"along the lower right edge.
