Childs Antique TransferWare Plate-Girl Whispers To Girl
Antique Porcelain Child's Plate- Pre 1900 Plate with embossed and reticulated patterns around the rim and a transfer design in the center of the plate. Alternating with the reticulation are small. Colorful bouquets of flowers. The illustration depicts 2 young girls. One is wearing a white dress and the second a bright blue coat and hat lined with fur. The girl in the coat is whispering into the ear of the other girl. The plate is 7" in diameter It is in very good vintage condition. There are no chips or cracks in the porcelain but there is some loss of color in the design-not much in the center illustration but the flowers around the rim show some wear. The plate probably was rimmed in gold. Only a very small piece is left around the edge. And there is a smudge directly above the flower on the bottom-right. Albert Sidney Aloe was in business for himself in St. Louis from 1867- 1876 as A.S. Aloe. When he went into partnership and changed the company name. This lasted until 1880, when he was back by himself as A.S. Aloe& Company. I'm sure this forceps is from his first company venture. It is heavy duty and long. Measuring 12" It was possibly used for extracting bullets, as well as other uses. Good condition with slight finish wear, hinge point is tight with no wear play, and works freely.
