Vintage Mathieu's Type Guillotine Tonsillotome You Will Love This Piece! Very Cool Surgical Instrument- Comes with a Custom Museum Stand! Comes from the USA Note: I've seen a number of the Mathieu's type tonsillotomes and this piece is the best. The plating is intact- no rust- operates with a smooth. Gliding motion. Dates to the late 19th or early 20th Century. Very effective and widely used. A patient would be given a 4% solution of Cocaine to deaden the area. The doctor would have to work fast since the effects only lasted 30 seconds. The instrument would be fully retracted and placed with the swollen tonsil in the opening. A set of forks would pierce the tonsil and lift it slightly. The surgeon would quickly pull back the slicing guillotine and the speared tonsil would be removed. When you show your friends how this works(and ... moreyou will) You can use a grape to demonstrate the skewering action of the forks and the guillotine slicing it in half- very cool. This is not ment for modern medical use. It is a very nice collectable- usually sells in the $250 range without the stand!

Vintage Seybold cutter. Turn-of-the-century era, 100% working and awesomely vintage. Not sure of year but last patent on plate is 1909. This cutter has seen rare usage in our plant for the past 6 years, and before that was in storage for at least a decade or two. We brought it out and cleaned it up and found that it's gorgeous. Installed a new 10hp motor and Teco inverter for soft start(alone over $1,500 together) and used it maybe 1-2 times per week for random small jobs. Metal tape readout with magnifier still functions and reads up to 38" depth but back guide can go about another 1/2" 39" width opening will cut a 38" sheet comfortably. Little or no rust or corrosion, well maintained. Quite possibly has the original paint, as well. Vintage E. Mueller Adenotome Measures 9 1/4" Long Nice chrome plating- has a guillotine blade with a perforated screen on the bottom. The instrument has a"basket" to house the severed adenoidl.
