Beautiful Antique Wooden Dough Bowl It is Large. Measuring 15-3/4" x 14-3/4" x 5-3/8" tall. This bowl appears to have been handmade. And carved from one single large piece of wood. I am uncertain what type of wood this is(possibly maple) but it is of a weight that makes it perfect for kitchen use. Not too light and not too heavy. Bowl is"out of round" and slightly oval. I am not certain if it was made that way. Or the wood has taken on this shape over the year. There is staining. Particularly in the bottom, from years of use. There is a very nice all over. Antique Country Primitive Wooden Breadboard, Cheese Board, Old Dough Board 1800s
Up for bids we offer this primitive. Antique, wooden breadboard without reserve. Found in an old farmhouse, this old board has a wonderful, primitive look with a folksy-looking lollipop shape that makes it very charming. It's original patina is incredible, with coloring that's rich and warm. Adding to it's character are the great signs of wear including cut marks from all the knives that sliced all sorts of breads and cheeses on this board way back in its day. Blackened in several places, it also has a wonderfully worn spot in the center of one side, giving it a concave surface. It's not perfectly concentrical, which enhances its early look. As for dimensions. This old breadboard measures 14 1/4" long including the handle and 11 3/8" wide. The thickness is right around 3/4" but varies in some places. It has ... morejust a few old worm holes but there's no active woodworms, termites, or dry rot problems. It's not split or cracked. Huge Antique Primitive Hand Carved Wood Trencher Dough Bowl
For your bidding consideration: A Huge Antique Primitive Hand Carved Wooden Trencher Dough Bowl. This remarkable large primitive bowl is in great antique condition. With the exception of an approximate 4" split on one side at the top center. The bowl is still strong in spite of this, but I am not an expert on wood repairs, so have left it as is for the next owner to repair or not. There is an indented/shaved area next to the split where possibly the bowl may have fallen and caused the split. There is a similar indent on the outside of the opposing side of the bowl, but no split. Neither of these areas are weak or look to be in danger of further breakage, but these rough areas have a lighter wood tone and are noticeable to the eye. The bowl has a lighter tone band on both sides that extend down as far as the base, and I don't know ... morethe reason for them because they don't seem to be repairs and don't go through to the inside. Aside from these defects(which, to my eye, give the bowl great primitive character) the bowl has some minor dings and scratches, especially on the underside, and numerous cut marks on the interior, all of which would be expected for an antique wooden bowl which has been heavily used. These all attest to its history, age, and great primitive look. This bowl will appeal to those seeking the well-worn beauty and character of a true primitive piece. But its minor antique flaws obviously are too many to itemize in great detail. Please study all of the photos. I have tried to capture as much detail as possible in my photos. Ask any questions you may have prior to end of auction, and I will gladly furnish any additional information. I don't know the bowl's history or exact age, but estimate age to be mid to later 1800s. Empire dough moulder molder in working condition. This amazing machine can crank out baguettes. Sub rolls, buns, etc. in a fraction of the time required to complete the tasks by hand. Not sure of the age, but it was working when taken out of service. It was in storage for some time, so it will require a cleaning. The moving belts are all in working condition, although they do show wear from use and storage- there are no hole or tears that I can see in the moving belts. There is one stationary felt(where the dough emerges from the first set of rollers) that some tearing on both sides. I don't expect that this will affect operation at all as the dough is very narrow when it passes through this area. This can also be replaced easily because it is not a moving belt but a stationary piece of felt. As for the power requirements. I will load ... morepictures of the spec plates on the unit and the motor. I requires 220V, and it doesn't say whether it is single phase or three phase. Perhaps you can tell by the plug(see picture) I'm selling this as-is. It is very heavy. I was able to fit it in my Chrysler mini-van(seats removed) and I was able to load it and unload it with one other adult. It rides on a very sturdy stand(included) with casters. It belonged to my parents and the only reason I am selling it is because it doesn't fit in with the decor in our new home and I want it to go to a good home. From my research. I believe this is a Pennsylvania Dutch piece from the 19th, possibly early 20th century. It has no warping, cracking or fading. One can tell that it is an old lathe-turned bowl by its dimensions. It measures 14.5" to 15.5" in diameter and 4.5" to 4.75" in height. If it weren't authentic the measurements would be even. ANTIQUE ROUND PINE WOOD DOUGH/ PASTRY BOARD WITH DOUBLE SPLINES This is a very nice old pine wood dough/pie board that is 24" long including the handle x 19-3/8' wide. It was recently obtained from an estate near the Chesapeake Bay of Virginia. It features double horizontal splines to retard warping& separating. And has a hole near the top of the handle for ease of storage. This primitive board remains in good condition. It does show small dents. LARGE 42" L ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE WOODEN TRENCHER DOUGH BOWL TREEN WITH HANDLES* Up for sale is this wonderful. Old, large antique primitive hand-made wooden trencher or dough bowl with unique handles. The trencher was imported from Eastern Europe. It is rectangular in shape and has rounded long handles on each end to carry it by. The handles make a wing, or bat, shape on the end of the trencher. It is rectangular in shape and measures 42" L x 14" W x 5.25" 7" D and it weighs 8 lbs. It is a beautiful trencher. It is a nice rich brown color and has the depth to the natural wood. The inside is a very dark brown. Trenchers like this are becoming more and more rare! There are a number of worm holes in this bowl. This is normal as these old bowls typically have hundreds of worm holes. Like this one. This bowl leans to one ... moreside. This is also fairly normal as typically these bowls lean or twist significantly as they were often used every day and would get wet during use. Over time, they twist or lean slightly as they get wet, dry, and get wet. You can see the form in the pictures. What character! It has old world charm including many evidences of being hand carved from one single piece of wood. There's some spotting and discoloration from years of use as you can see in the pictures. This wasn't a decoration but rather a working trencher! It has many character scratches to the interior and spotting or differences in color from age and use. Look at the color. WOW! We have tried to show all of this in the photos. As mentioned above. It sits with a lean and sits 6.75" 5.25" at the right and 7" 6.5" at the left in the second picture. You can see the lean in the end shot(3rd picture) These unique characteristics are indicative of old trenchers and are a defining character of being made before machines took over and hand made nuances became a rare item. There are scratches. Scuffs and staining but no cracks. There is a tiny chip by the hole at the end of the trencher for hanging. There are also some nicks here and there. On the bottom side there are finger grips on either side. I washed it out but it will need more cleaning. Great patina. Great décor item for any season. And BECAUSE of the distressing/waxing process these are NOT suitable for rolling dough or raw foods(although they're fine for storing foods ... morewith shells or peels.oranges.certain nuts.bananas.things like that) There will be slight wood splits to the lip on some of these bowls. It's just natural to the wood and happens during the drying process. We oil them and wax them in so that they blend naturally with the surrounding patina. This one has a 1 7/8" split to the lip(you can see it at the bottom of the first picture below) It just adds to the rustic and rugged authentic(old) look of the piece and affects nothing. These are not MEANT to look"perfect" Rather they are meant to replicate the way the crudely carved old authentic ones looked. THAT said. The split on this one was so small that Rick didn't bother adding a leather strapping to it like he does on some of our bowls(see the others to see what I mean) IF YOU would like him to cover it with a leather strapping, he'll be happy to do it for you.
