Egg Carton Maker cast iron early Shelmar products
This is an early shelmar products egg carton machine. It is seldom seen outside of a museum and this one is as nice as any I have seen that have not been refinished. This was rusty appearing after being on display for many years. After spraying a light coat of oil over it, it suddenly appeared to be black? It is displayed on a board which I think was added for display purposes. At some time the handle was bent slightly toward the mechanism and has some rubbing wear there, I have seen one other one that had the same wear so it may be a common trait. The machine is in excellent working condition and operates smoothly. I see no damage, repairs or missing parts. At auction these have been estimated as high as sixteen hundred dollars,but I have not seen one sell for near that price. Of course they are rarely seen for sale anyway. I feel I have ... morepriced this one quite fairly based on the few previous sales I could verify. listed is a vintage 1940's wood 12 pack dr. pepper carrier. the carrier has original paint. Reads, dr pepper good for life. the carrier hold 6 glass bottles on each side. unsure of which type bottles were in carton originally, but 10oz bottles fit too tightly, and are too tall. looks like probably the good for life 6-1/2 oz bottles might fit. no bottles are included with the carrier. just below the handle on one side is a knot that fell out in wood. no major issues, some minor paint wear, some knicks here and there but overall in quite good normal use condition, no rotted wood. originally cost 24c deposit for 12 bottles, and 6c for deposit on wood carrier. hard to find item.
