1930's CRACKER JACK SHIPPING CARTON/BOX
This auction is for a circa early 1930's Cracker Jack shipping box/carton. It features Sailor Jack. His dog Bingo with a family in a model T car. The name of the store that it was shipped to also appears on the box; a store which was in upstate Malone, NY. This is a heavy cardboard box that measures 15 1/2" x 13" X 8" The graphics are still very dark and sharp- colored despite its age. I have included many photos for your inspection to help indicate its condition. The top of the box was apparently removed for store display and to get the individual boxes out in the store. It is now quite ragged on the top edge, but I have left it in this original condition, although it could be cut and evened up, if desired, by the buyer. As seen in the photos, there was a 2 1/4" X 7" section that was cut out on one of the upper ... moresides of the box, and I will include that piece as it fits nicely back in(see photos) I believe this would be a very nice addition to a collection of cracker jack or other store advertising memorabilia. Loop handles of rope were added to the carton at some point is its long life. Also, the two hinged corners had wire reinforcements added at some point. See photos. There is some writing on the lid, indicating the carton was once used at Woodhead Drug(we have no idea where that might have been located, but it tells us that this one goes back to before chain drugstores were on every corner and family operations were still the norm) Used but not abused. Photo#9 shows a slight bulge in the front upper corner of the bonnet, the worst flaw I noted when inspecting this C-21. The shipping box has been w ell-worn and repaired with tape at some point in its past. But is still competent. The styrofoam shipping inserts are no longer present so they aren't included.
