My experience on the farm as a kid tell me that these will drive and pull staples in wood posts. As well as stretch barbed wire The joint on this one moves freely. The pointed end is good as is the top end of the tool. Just a little dirty with light surface rust. The hammer head part is slightly mushroomed from use. Still a far better tool then the newer counter-parts now made off-shore.

Electric Fence Controller WD 56 Weedchopper for Farm and Home
I used this around a vegetable garden and it worked great. Keeping out the vegetable-eating varmints. I kept the controller just inside the garage door and ran a single insulated wire to the garden fence, then ran the fence wire from there around the garden. It's the pulsing kind. Not the constant current kind. It really did"chop" the weeds/tall grass with zaps. Use w/ 17 gauge electric fence wire and either plastic or porcelain insulators. I just plugged it in and checked it-works fine. The check light works. Too. This is NOT for use with dog training.
