This is a really cool old hand crank US Slicing Machine Company/Berkel Model C meat slicer from the late 1930's I believe. It was made in La Porte. Indiana(as it sort of says on the crank) It is in fantastic mechanical condition for its age. I'm no expert on these machines/this was purchased from an estate sale, but here's what I can tell you about it: The BAD: The paint doesn't look too hot. It appears to have been repainted(non-professionally) some years ago. And both layers of paint are flaking off. This includes the logos. It actually says"Model C" on the side of the tower, but it's very hard to see in the pics. The milk glass meat-catching tray is gone. From what I understand. However, these aren't too hard to find. It looks like there's some type of small knob missing from the chrome mechanism directly ... moreabove the meat tray. I'm not even sure what it's supposed to look like. As it was hard to find pics of this somewhat rare model. One of the grinding stones is chipped on the edge. Replacements aren't too hard to find. Sharpener mechanism is a little stiff. But would probably loosen up easily. Blade shroud looks to have been tig welded near the end some time ago. But is solid. The GOOD: IT WORKS! Quite beautifully. Actually. All mechanisms, knobs, and adjustments seem to work as intended. Meat holding tray ratchets/indexes forward just as it should. These things are quite fascinating to watch. I have done nothing to try and restore it. As to keep it as original as possible. Only a light coating of WD-40 has been applied to the mechanisms for lubrication and to prevent further oxidation. This would be an excellent candidate for restoration. It wouldn't take a whole lot. Really.paint, chrome plating, and some polishing should fix it right up. I'm not certain of the manufacturing date. Antique Cast Iron Meat/Cheese Deli Slicer- Raadvad Model#294 This is a wonderfully rustic. Industrial antique cast iron Meat/Cheese Deli Slicer made by Raadvad(Dutch? model#294. The cast iron is blue but it looks like it might have been red at one point too, or an accent color? There is one handle with a large, sharp blade. The tray is 2 pieces of wood, which also has remnants of what looks like red paint. The wood handle looks like it might have been red too. The side is marked"Raadvad" there is also an"R" and a crown on the left of the word and a crown on the right side(photo 9) The blade is marked"Rustfri" photo 11) which means rust free. The back is marked"294" photo 12) This slicer looks complete. The wood is in great condition. The cast iron is rough but that's what you want! The blade looks ... moreto be in great shape but I'm no expert on what constitutes great condition. The wood on the handle is also in great condition. I haven't cleaned it because I don't want to ruin the integrity of the piece. The slicer measures 10" across(not including the handle) by 9 1/2" tall(including the feet) The handle measures 3 1/2" by 4" across. The blade measures 6 1/2" long at the sharp edge. The boards measures 11 1/8" by 5 1/2" for the larger board. And 11 1/8" by 4 1/8" for the smaller board. IBM Dayton Scale hand operated meat slicer
I bought this when I was interested in salumi and charcuterie. I wanted a Van Berkel. But quickly realized I could never justify $15000 for a good one. It is an amazing machine, considering it was made in the 1920s. It works very well almost one hundred years later, as you can see by the transparent slice of Brescaola. It's all the slicer a foodie would ever need, but I feel it belongs in a business, restored to it's former glory, and slicing cured meats tissue thin for another hundred years.

One beautiful 1919 Berkel. Last date on brass patent plate is July 15. 1919. All pieces present with the exception of the white meat plate. I have done no restoration work on this, but the handle cranks, the flywheel turns, blade spins, and all parts move. The action is a bit tight and will need some grease and cleaning. Blade is razor sharp, slice thickness selector works beautifully. Includes 2-post meat holder with toothed horizontal hold bar. The sliding slicing tray is currently not connected, but all parts there to lock it in to the heavy worm drive. A spectacular item, ready for your appreciation or full restoration. Antique American Eagle Commercial Meat Slicer Vintage Restaurant Butcher Deli NR
Here is an antique cast iron with porcelain enamel commercial meat slicer. This came from the estate whose family owned the butcher shop in Shreeve. Ohio. When it closed, his equipment was put in his basement and has been sitting there for many years. I wiped this with a damp sponge and most of the original paint and labels are there. The blade is rusty and may need replaced. The cord must be replaced. I did gamble and plug it in and turn it on. This ran with a lot of power. I only let it run about 20 seconds, no sparks or smoke. The base is 11 by 23 inches and weighs over 100 pounds. This will be pick up only from Rittman, Ohio about an hour South of Cleveland. Email any questions and thanks for looking.

Serial Number 45284- It has a 10 1/2 or 11 inch blade, has a built in sharpener, 1/4 HP Motor, hand feed, it measures 26 inches long is 17 inches wide and about 13 inches tall- It is very heavy, weighs about 130 lbs. as shown.
