This is a classic vintage fly fishing vest made for the Dorfman Hat Co. It has lots of pockets and zipper pouches and places to put things. It is size large and in good condition for it's age. The zippers work. One snap has torn the fabric, see photos, but that's the only issue I can see. This vest is old and in my opinion should not be used for fishing. The flannel inside is soft and looks clean and the net back also looks good. The zippers work but the fabric is old and will not take much use, again my opinion. This is a great vintage RedHead Fly Fishing Vest. It is large. With the waist going out to 52 inches and the shoulder straps extending to a total of 32 inches. It is made of heavy canvas and is Army Green. It has been used. The leather shows wear and the vest has several small rips. The rips are all on the seam and with the help of a good tailor could be repaired. There seems to be some remnants of flys in the pockets as when you shake it feathers fly out. I think it could use a good vacuuming. The vest has the RedHead label on it and it is in great shape. To save you money, I can put this in a heavy-duty plastic envelope and send it that way. Vintage Abercrombie& Fitch Safari line fly fishing vest/jacket. Men's size 46. Except for some deterioration on the fleece patch the jacket is quite clean. It still has the original Abercrombie& Fitch price tag on the sleeve. And may never have been used. I have a 1949 Abercrombie& Fitch catalog that pictures this jacket so I assume it dates from the late 1940s or 1950s. The original price in was $20 way back then- adjust for inflation by a factor of at least 10. I have two of these, but kept one for myself. The short length for deep water and the long sleeves for cool days(or to protect from black flies or mosquitoes) are nice features. It is manufactured(and sewed) in the United States-Unfortunately I never took up fly fishing; thus it is only lightly worn and in superior condition-Features: Wool fly holders. Ample external pockets, waterproof pack pouch, and creel, net loops front and back. As a bonus. The vest comes with an ORVIS palm sized fly pouch with 23 flies. I am no longer certain how many of these are ORVIS flies, though all are from the early 80s.
