The other side doesn't have wood. Nor does it have holes to mount wood, so I don't think it was ever supposed to have wood there. Perhaps the wood part that is there was added by the farmer to make the stanchion narrower for smaller cows. ANTIQUE COW STANCHION~~SILVER ~~ METAL & WOOD
You are bidding on an old metal and wood cow stanchion that was bought and installed back in the 1940's on our farm for Holstein milking cows. It was used until 1974. When our parents retired and moved into town. They were stored in the old granary on the farm until last year. The stanchion measures 47" high, 10 1/2" wide at the bottom, 19 1/2" wide at the top in the opened position. It still opens and closes very freely didn't even need any oil. I did oil the wood pieces and they are intact. Metal still shows silver paint on it from when they were new, however, the spots that don't have paint show rust. Thanks for looking and good luck!

I have for sale one Belt End connector for Lavi Beltrac crowd control retractable belt stanchions. It plugs into the slots on the side or back of the stanchion. This item is Used- In good condition. This one is an older style and will only work with Lavi Beltrac brand stanchions. It is not a universal fit connector! To install the belt end onto your stanchion belt. The belt must have a folded over and sewn loop. The machine screw slides into the loop. Slide the two halves of the connector over the belt(with the belt in the slot) And tighten the screw to join the two halves. Sold AS-IS. You will receive one belt end connector only. Vintage Restaurant or Home Theather (crowd control) Stanchion
For sale are 8 vintage brass stanchion that were used in an older theater. We have 8 brass poles. And 12 solid dividers, 8 are 40" long and 4 are 34" long. The poles are 41" tall, and the bottom poles is designed to fit into a 2" diameter hole 5' deep to support the pole. However the lower brass pole could be cut off and the poles be mounted flush to the floor(if wanted) All the poles show major signs of tarnishing, but I did take the time to polish the loose brass ball(last 2 pictures) to show the potential of the poles if looking for a polished brass finish. If you are interested paying for shipping, I will check it out on request. They are heavy, so I will look for the most economical method. These poles are very unique and have a good potential for your future project.

This auction is for an awesome set of 11 theatre stanchion ropes. These are for crowd control of a bygone Hollywood era! Nowadays we need bouncers and way more secure ways to keep people in line! Anyhow. I digress. These are a royal blue velvet material with brass ends and they are very heavy and have a heft of old fashioned quality that ropes of today are missing. The measurements are shown in a simple diagram in the last picture. They are 34" from hook to hook. The"exposed" rope part is 25 1/2" They are between 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" thick. There are some dents in dings in some of the post caps, as you can see in the pictures. One of the tees has been slightly bent and will need bent back or possibly an adjustment made to the wood post used to connect the pieces. One of the posts stands slightly taller than the others, at 40 3/4" high. This cow stanchion was made by the Carr Mfg. Co. Columbus Ohio. It is made of iron and wood and came out of a dairy farm in central Ohio. It has plenty of surface rust and wear on the wood but it looks complete and it is in good working order for its age. It measures approx. 51 inches high. And 18 inches across at the lock down.
