Pair of Sandwich Glass Cranberry peg lamps - mid 1800's
Up for sale is a pair of Cranberry overlay Sandwich glass peg lamps. Mid 1800's. I am not a collector or a dealer. These are family items I have been given over the years, and am now selling. The candlesticks are NOT included. They are for display ONLY. From"Sandwich Glass" by Ruth Webb Lee. peg lamps were produced at Sandwich in 1825, the peg lamps appealed to thrifty New Englanders. They were intended to save candles and fulfill the functions of both candlestick and lamps. A peg lamp is, as the name suggests, a small lamp bowl with a peg at the end that will fit into the socket of a candlestick(see pictures) Most of the peg lamps originally were very simple. As the nation grew in wealth and required more lavish furnishings, the peg lamp became more ornate. The most elaborate are the so-called"overlay" glass, a"case" ... moreglass which consisted of more than on layer, so that when the lamps were cut, the color of the second layer or even third layer, made the color combination"a thing of beauty" This pair is a cranberry overlay and have what I assume is pewter double collars and burners. Only one still has the caps for the burners. These are obviously a more ornate version! They are 4 inches tall from the base of the lamp(not including peg) to the burner. And 2 inches wide. From the bottom of the peg, to the very top of the burners, they are 6.25 inches tall. I find no chips or cracks on the pair. there are a couple small minor scratches on the glass. Only noticeable when holding the peg at a certain angle. These are in really good condition for items that were used by my ancestors. They bought fine things, but used them. so many things show the effects of being used. but not these. I've tried to capture them from all angles in the pictures. let me know if you wish to see some other view. Please ask any questions and I'll answer what I can.

You would need to adjust for fast or slow. I don't know if the alarm works. I don't seem to be able to get it working. This auction is for a wonderful old heavily carved oak bench from Scotland. It's a head turning doll. There is lot's& lots of carving on this bench. The patina is a beautiful dark oak. It's stable. Sturdy and quite heavy. It's put together with wooden"pegs" with a few of the older"flathead screws" and a few extra nails added from over the years. The craftsmanship on both the carving and the making of this bench is just wonderful, we seldom see items this old, this well made and still in good condition at anywhere what I would call a reasonable or affordable price. It could littery go into any room of your home. It would serve well a the foot of any bed. It would look wonderful in any entry or foyer. It would look great in any country kitchen, den, gameroom or family room. It's way over 100 years ... moreold and should be around for a couple hundred more with normal care and use. They are made of sheep bone or ox bone. We have quite a handful of them and are offering eight of them at auction this week- each one is a one-of-a-kind motif. These teething pegs were carved by British sailors in the second half of the 19th century. They are usually found singly. But sometimes two or three are found strung on old ribbon or string. Pair Antique Red peg lamps
A pair of red peg lamps with shade rings. Lamps stand 4 inches from peg up to burner mount. 13 and 1/2 inches from the peg up to the top of chimney. The lamps are an exact pair but the burners do not match, one burner has a dent on one side but still very stable to hold a shade. Original springs still intact on pegs. I tried to picture the true color of these lamps but still did not do them justice, they are a beautiful red honeycomb pattern. What you get are the lamps, burners/shade holders and chimneys. Vintage 1964 DIGSMED DANISH MODERN TEAK LAZY SUSAN- 17" Diameter Peg Handle For sale at auction today is a vintage 1960's mid-century Danish modern lazy susan/ serving tray by Digsmed of Denmark. It's very nicely made of teak wood with a long peg handle in the center and a chamfered edge on the underside. It spins smoothly on the base and is marked as shown. It is in very good used condition with no chips or cracks. A wonderful patina and some minor staining and soilng that could use a light cleaning- I haven't cleaned it, leaving that choice to the buyer. It's quite large, measuring 17" in diameter and 7-1/2" tall at the handle and 1-7/8" tall at the tray. This WW1 Shell Art Nouveau Vase belonged to John M"Peg Leg" Hoskins. It has the sign of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows engraved. It is made by J.T. Atwood on September 11. 1918 in France as engraved on the bottom. Straight ... moreout of Hoskin's estate and his story is below. It does have a couple of tear along the side, please see picture. It is priced accordingly. Hoskins was commander of USS Princeton and was badly bombed during the battle of Leyte Gulf where he lost his leg. Later. Hoskins went on to take command of the new USS Princeton and fought in the Korean War. He was a Vice Admiral, Commander Fleet Air after the war. There was a movie"Eternal Sea" made in 1955 to document his career. Please read the 2 links below for his complete biography. The provenance of this piece is rock solid as it was taken directly from his estate along with other items that included his medals and other personal engraved items. I even bought his shot gun. But can't sell that on eBay. If need be, I can obtain a letter of authenticity from the company that sold his estate items. I also have an engraved sterling silver humidor from his estate for sale. Rare Lot 5 Vtg Disney Lady & The Tramp Cracker Jack Cereal Prizes Tramp Peg Jock
Up for auction is this nice lot of 5 cracker jack. Gumball or cereal promotion pieces from the movie Lady and the Tramp. Average size is 1 1/4" x 1 3/4" They include: Mixed Terrier Tramp, Lhasa Apso Peg, Scottish Terrier Jock, Chihuahua Pedro, and Siamese Cat Si or Am, you choose which one you want it to be since they are identical twins in the movie. Peg, Jock, Pedro and the kitty are more dimensional and made of a thicker, harder plastic and can stand alone. They are each marked Walt Disney Productions Inc. on the back. Tramp is a thinner plastic and slightly bendable, he is not marked and cannot stand alone. The movie came out in 1955, and I believe that the premiums were made around the same time frame. The pieces are in good used vintage condition. With no chips or repairs. There is slight normal surface wear, after all, they ... moreare over 50 years old. As to be expected, there are some mold flaws, most noticeably the lines on Pedro's face. They do not detract from these wonderful collectibles. From the northern province of the Netherlands. Friesland, comes this hand chip carved coat or hat rack. Measures 24 1/2" by 5 5/8" The rack retains both of its hangers and its original back splats. Carved with very good detail. The piece has great color and fine patina. Carved with the Dutch proverb"East West, Home is Best" how true is that? In good condition. Consistent with its circa 1920 vintage normal and expected wear including a secure hairline split on the far right is present as shown. An outstanding piece of chip carving!
