Antique Branford Lock Works Cast Iron Rim Lock Marbled Door Knob Pat 1863
We were lucky enough to get many items from the attic of an old home in downtown Louisville. This is a really cool old door knob that someone told me is called a rim lock. We don't have a key and you will need to put a screw in one of the knobs to keep it from falling off since the screw is missing. The deadbolt is in the lock but it looks like the latch isn't there. The old lock is embossed with the marking BLW for Branford Lock Works and a patent date of 1863. I dont' know what the knob is made of but it looks like some kind of brown swirled marble and there is a small chip on one of the knobs that you should be able to see in the picture. The old cast iron should clean up nicely and make a great piece for an old home.

Vintage/ Antique Door Knob unusual design
This is a vintage or antique door knob. It measures almost 2 inches across the face. Gold colored circles with black sides and back. The circles have a lot of dark specks from age. Witch give it a nice aged look. I am not sure if they are brass or brass coated or other. The shaft look to be brass or coated again I am not sure, This is a screw on type handle and has the set screw, The only thing that appears to be magnetic is the set screw. Up for auction is a set of antique metal door plates. Very cool design! N o t sure what type of metal they are. C ould be solid brass or copper. A magnet does not stick to them. Measurements are: 10 1/2" long tip to tip and 2 1/ 2" across from tip to tip of the top ornament. 2 1/2" from the center of the deadbolt hole to the center of the doorknob hole. It is 1" from the edge of the knob hole to the edge of the deadbolt hole, 6 1/4" between the screw holes. Each one weighs slightly over 11 ounces. More pictures available upon request. It is as found. All original and shows some vintage finish on the knob. The overall length is 3-1/4 inches with a 1-7/8 inch diameter x 1-3/4 inch long walnut knob. The latch is 2-1/2 inches long, 7/8 x 7/8 inch at the thick end and 1/4 of an inch at the long tapered end. The ½ inch diameter dowel is mortised into the latch and cut nailed. It has spots of verdigris and on the back you can see different colors of paint. There are no markings on it. Condition: Nice vintage condition; needs to be cleaned and polished. Up for auction is a brass door handle and lock plate. A knob and a hinge. The large side of the hinge has a slight bend, the handle rod has a slight bend also and I don't know if all of the inner workings of the lock set are there. Rod is approximately 3 1/2" long lock plate is 5"X2 1/8" knob is 1 3/4" w X 1 1/4" d, hinge 4" long X 3 5/16 at it's widest. I will combine shipping where it is possible.
