It has been modified to use standard EL34 tubes instead of the original tubes that are no longer manufactured. The lamp in the Ampeg sign has been converted to a red and blue LED. So it never needs replacing. Pretty light wear for an amp almost 50 years old. Looks good and sounds incredible.

The switch is enclosed in a interestingly-shaped black plastic/celluloid/bakelite housing, with the switch hardware exposed within the back. This switch is visually very attractive and in good cosmetic condition. The black casing/housing is nice and shiny. With no scratches or flaws. The brass switch stem, hex nut, and threaded stem casing all have a very nice patina. Here we start with a vintage& extremely cool looking retro Zenith tube bakelite AM radio in fantastic working condition. The model number on this wonderful radio is K510& it was produced in the 1953 era. This stunning looking radio is made of bakelite or thick plastic& it is a dark chocolate marbled brown in color. The marbling effect shows best in bright light but some cabinets have more or less of a marbling effect in the cabinet& this this cabinet has the less in marbling. So it is basically a dark chocolate brown. This cabinet has been cleaned& polished& still retains it's original sheen or shine& that shine is a mirror glass shine that just keeps going& going& going like the energizer bunny. There are no cracks or chips in the cabinet but there are a couple of extremely light scratches that are ... morenot noteworthy of talking about. For auction is a vintage Gilfillan Bros. Radio. Model 56E Tube Radio, circa 1947, made in Los Angeles, California. I haven't seen too many of these on EBay! This was an estate find. So I don’t know too much about this piece, and am auctioning it AS-IS. This radio powers up and the knob(one is missing– pictured) appear to be original. But there is just static when adjusting the volume/ station dial. I didn’t hear any stations/ broadcasts. I always recommend a certified electrician/ expert check older electronics for safety. I felt a shock when standing on concrete and bare-foot when trying/ touching the metal dial tuner(no knob) I know. A stupid thing to do! Someone allowed it to get what looks ... morelike water damage on two spots on the top(it isn't two-toned wood) I tried to take pictures of these areas(pictured) Some of the veneer looks warped also. There are a couple of minor dings on the bottom and back plate. Again. I didn’t pull in any stations– just static. The front dial didn’t light up when powered up but I don’t know if it should. I took pictures with and without flash. Trying to catch the most details. While I didn’t take the back plate off(it looks nailed on with finishing nails. Versus screwed) this radio runs on 5 tubes and some of lit up, but I couldn’t see if all did(pictured) This radio uses 5 tubes( 12SA7, 12SK7, 12SQ7, 50L6GT and 35Z5GT) and the approximate dimensions are 12 x 6.5 x 7 inches. This piece can use a good light cleaning but I didn’t do anything to the surface as I know collectors like to determine what needs done. This would make a GREAT restoration project! Again. Pair Federal AM 864/U Tube Amplifier (Limiter/Compressor/Preamplifier)
Shipping cost is for one unit only. Please double for your cost. One pair of Federal AM 864/U Amplifiers from US Signal Corp. Made in the USA in the the mid-50's. Found together at a recent Dallas estate sale. The gentleman who owned them and many, many other pieces of Signal Corp. equipment was in the Corp. until the mid-50's. These units are well known. Hard to find and sought after limiters and compressors. These two are untouched and undoubtedly in storage since no later than the early 1960's. I am selling them together because one appears to be a demonstration unit that has a couple of minor modifications and possibly a broken meter. Perhaps it will find its best use as a parts machine for the other or for someone who wants two, it looks to be easily restored. Both units are missing their cages and power cords. Check the ... morephotos for cosmetics. The front plate on each could use a touch up. What you can't see and I couldn't cleanly photograph is that each has a very slight bend on one corner. Both units are untested and are being sold for parts only. All tubes were in their respective units and were tested with a B&K 747 mutual conductance tube tester- 68 is good and 100+ is considered NOS. Tube clamping system works and is in excellent condition on all tubes. Unit 1: Serial number 149. Bottom unit photo 1 and photos 2 through 6. Appears complete. Including H-pad update on input. Very clean when received. All controls and switches work properly. I can see no evidence of distressed transformers or other components. The tropical protective coating on the chassis and components is in very good condition. Fuse passes visual and continuity tests. All tubes. Including the rectifier, test good except for the"B" section of the 6SK7. It came in at 60. The 6SK7s are well matched at 88 and 90. No shorts or gas. Input barrier strip has a piece missing. The middle input is semi-loose but appears to be connected. The other two inputs seem fine. Amp 2: Serial number 1244. Appears to be a demo

Some sort of vacuum tube/fuse? with paper label"Patented 8-23-04& 10-25-10" 2 contact points blown into tube attached to fine wire by carbon paste"clamps" to possible platinum lead-in wires(like early light bulb technology) I have no clue what this is but maybe you know. No cracks, chips or repairs. Exhaust tip on one end of tube intact. Measures 12" long x 15/16" diameter. Manufactured by RCA of Harrison, NJ. This was found in the attic of a man trained by the US Army in radio operation. It has been there at least 15 years, so if heat has an effect on these things, it’s been effected! The tube looks like it may be burnt and it does not have any markings to match it to the number on the box. The box is in good condition.
