Up for auction this week is this very cool 1940's VINTAGE HARDWARE STORE ROTARY HARDWARE CAROUSEL in VERY GOOD CONDITION! It measures about 19" tall and has a 17" diameter. The previous owner pop-riveted some extra aluminum dividers into a few sections to hold more and smaller variety. Originally. This little sucker held about 150 lbs of nails! There are large ball bearings between the sections for smooth turning, no matter how much weight you put in them. I found this beauty in the basement of a local estate sale COVERED in dust. Large Store Display Sleigh and Four Reindeer. Snow flocked and covered with glitter. A while ago. I sold some lights, etc. from a hardware store in North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The daughter contacted me quite a few years ago as she had Christmas she wanted to sell as they were moving to a small home. All of what she sold me came out of her family's hardware store. She so loved Christmas, she begged her dad to let her have all the Christmas before the auction. And he gave her all. She still kept quite a bit, but this store display and the next item to come up for sale were items with which she wanted to part. Wooden sleigh. She was unsure if it was made locally or purchased from wholesaler. But they filled it with replacement lamps, etc. in a display. Then two sets of"Two Reindeer" ready to prance. The original red elastic type ... moreribbon used to connect the three is included as it was set up in their store. Sleigh is made of plywood. Etc. It appears commercially made to me. 15.50" in length 5.75" in width. And 9.00" in height. Each set of reindeer is 15.00" in length. 3.25" in width, and 10.50" in height. Everything is in very good condition. There is nothing wrong with this Christmas item. These being listed today are in very good shape. They are vintage. Not reproductions. I guarantee that. Wonderful old 1897-1907 TOWNE GENERAL HARDWARE AND HOUSE FURNIISHINGS(PAINTS. OILS, SPORTING GOODS AND FARM MACHINERY) Store Ledger from Saratoga Springs(then still a village) New York. Meticulously entered in calligraphy you will find a 105 pages of inventoried items including quantity and cost. Also included is the partnership agreement between Frances(a woman) and Arthur Towne. Same last name and believed to be a married couple. Frances contributed $5376 of her own money, and Arthur only $180(plus borrowed money) to open the business. From what research I can find, it was a 30,000 sq foot three-story building. Also included are the year-end totals showing growth and loss over the period of ten years. The inventory is fascinating. Everything from kitchen supplies to carriage parts, paint, knives, door knobs, heaters, Sad Irons, and much ... moremore. Also included are receipts from other businesses and a program to a local recital. The book is in very nice. Complete condition. I love the fingerprint marks on the linen front of the book! This is a Local True Value Hardware store sign. It is the store front size. Each section is about 8- 8 1/2 ft long and 14- 16" tall. This came from a hardware store that was open in Onsted MI several years ago. Own a piece of local history, or cut down into a couple pieces. Oak hardware store parts cabinet/ bin manufactured in the early 1900's by W.C. Heller Co. of Montpelier. Ohio. This company is still in business today. The cabinet measures 25 1/2" wide x 11 1/4" deep x 41 3/4" high. There are 42 large drawers and 32 small drawers. The drawers have wood fronts and backs and sheet metal sides and bottoms. This cabinet is part of my parents estate. It was used by my parents in a hardware store which they operated in northern Ohio in the 1950's and early 60's. It was moved to Arizona in 1963 and has been stored in their garage.since that time.

Methuen MA Vintage Hardware Store Winchester gun advertising umbrella
What a wonderful piece of Winchester advertising! This is the top of an umbrella that advertised F.X. Robichaud. A paint and hardware store in Methuen, Massachusetts. It was probably used outside the store to provide shade for some of their items. You can tell the age of the umbrella by the low digit telephone number. A general goods and hardware store they were also a Winchester dealer too! The width of this fabric is approx. 60 inches. The condition of the fabric is poor which I have tried to illustrate in the pictures. There are tears. Holes, stains and the fabric is very dry and VERY fragile. But having said that it would still be a great display piece for your collection. The letters on the Winchester logo are 3 inches tall. The Old Dominion Commercial Company in Globe Arizona is reported to be haunted on the second floor. In the late 1870’s. People began to move to the new mining camp called Globe. One of these settlers was a man Alonzo Bailey. Bailey and G S Van Wagenen opened up a general store on Broad Street. Eventually he established his own general merchandise store and called it the Old Dominion Commercial Company and was located on the corner of Broad and Mesquite Streets. The Old Dominion Commercial Company became one of the top businesses on Broad Street. They sold groceries. Dry goods, clothing and more. Bailey even started a bank within the store that was very successful in Globe. The future Arizona governor. George W P Hunt worked at the Old Dominion Commercial Company as a delivery boy in 1890’s and eventually became a clerk, and later manager of the grocery department. Hunt
