These 5 Pre-Columbian brownware vessels-3 pitchers& 2 bowls-originated from Upala. Costa Rica. This area is about 10 miles from Nicaragua just below Lake Nicaragua. They date from 1200-1500 AD. BOWLS: From left to right in photo: The smaller of the tripod bowls with the rattle legs has a fabric pattern incised rim. It measures 6" high and 6 1/2" in diameter. The taller tripod bowl also has rattle legs and incised decoration. It measures 6 7/8" high and 7" in diameter. SHOE VESSELS/ PITCHERS: From left to right in photo: The first. Vintage Modern Glass & Rattan Pitchers, Handblown Pair
Being offered is this rare opportunity to own a stunning. Authentic vintage modern pair of handblown glass pitchers in excellent condition. Even their rattan-wrapped handles are pristine. Note in enlarged photos. The handles are attached only on the bottoms! The tops of the handles are floating apart from the vessel walls, about 1/16" A sure mark of skilled craftsmanship. Likely never used except for home decor. These came from my grandmother who collected modern furnishings from 1950s-60s, in Pittsburgh. However, she did travel to Florida, and overseas to Europe and the Holy Land. Their are no apparent maker's marks or signatures. Could be from a design studio or a highly skilled artisan. It has a hand-cut geometric design on the base, and measures 7.25" high. It is in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, or scratches. The red pitcher is made of pressed glass with a hobnail design. It may have been hand-blown into a mold as it has aspects of both techniques. The pitcher is 7.75" tall. Superb Aesthetic Haynes Chesapeake Pottery Pitchers Washbowl Set 1891
This auction is for a Strikingly Beautiful Haynes Chesapeake Pottery Chamber Set with a Large Pitcher. Large Washbowl and a smaller pitcher. This set Displays Wonderfully and would instantly become the focal point of any room's décor. I have heard this pattern described as Moorish. To me. It looks like a Lovely Aesthetic repeating Victorian Scroll design. This set was discovered at a recent estate sale of an avid Haynes Pottery collector. The pieces aren't marked but are clearly Haynes as is apparent when you look at Photo 11. It is of a magazine ad from 1891 that showed a chamber set in identical form that was produced by Haynes Bennett& Co. of Baltimore. Maryland. The set is beautifully well made. Each piece has a greenish. Matte finished body and a highly glazed top and bottom portions with gold highlighted and embossed ... morepatterns. I have owned and sold many pitcher and wash bowl sets but this one is perhaps the nicest of the bunch mainly because of its unusual shape. Design and overall feel. I have never seen a washbowl with such a distinct shape. The set is in very good condition. Especially for its age. The designs and coloring is vivid and bright. There is some age appropriate and minor loss of the gold accent lines and crazing. As is expected from pieces of this vintage. It only adds to the character of the set. There are no chips or repairs in any of the pieces. The large pitcher has a small hairline in its handle that I believe might have been made in the firing process(see last photo) It doesn't go all the way around and the handle remains solid. It is hard to spot and doesn't detract from the overall appeal of this Truly Fabulous Set. The tall pitcher measures 12 inches tall. The small pitcher measures 8 inches tall. The bowl is about 15 3/4 inches wide.
