Vintage Cherokee Split Oak Splint Large Basket -may be the work of Amanda Smoker
Up for bid is a nice large cherokee split oak basket. The dimensions are 8 3/4" at the base x 10 1/2" high x 10"wide at the rim. The widest part of the basket is 11 1/2" The darker oak splits are dyed with walnut dye and the lighter splits are natural. The basket has aged beautifully. The lashing around the rim is intact and is not loose. The oak rim is solid and sturdy. The weaving splits are in good shape but they have cosmetic blemishes. I've taken pics from every side. Top and bottom of the basket. View and judge for yourself. There is some white paint on the basket as you can see in the pics. It seems to be a water based paint. I removed some of the paint using warm water and soap just to see if it would come off. As you can see in the pics, I left the rest of the paint on. The rest may come off or it may not. ... moreThe only major deficiency that is noticeable is that there are a few oak splits broken on the bottom of the basket, about 1 1/2" square. I'm going out on a limb here and say that this basket looks very similar to the works of renowned cherokee basketmaker Amanda Smoker. But without documentation to prove it, it is just my honest opinion. I estimate that this basket was made in the 1950's. I know my baskets as I am a maker and collector of white oak split baskets. Vintage Reuge Steinbach "Herzelina" MUSICAL Nutcracker Smoker Germany Retired
UP for your consideration this week is a wonderful 1980's Original Musical Steinbach smoker by the name"Herzelina" She is in great condition for her age. And the smoker appears to have never been used. Herzelina was known as the"tainted" woman who is fabled to be the wild daughter of the owner of a French manor who grew up chubby, and became unfaithful once married. She has cute red cheeks. Lace pantaloons, bonnet, shawl and of course her ample assets while moving side to side atop a faux-fur covered music box top base which uses Steinbach's preferred Reuge Swiss Musical Movement. The music box is wound with the key on the back side. And plays the famously know tune"La Danse des Canards" Chicken Dance" when you pull out the lever on the other side of base. Herzelina has long been retired. And is ... morea very hard to find collectible. She stands approximately 9.5"H. If you are a nutcracker lover. She will fit right in. Seated Hunter Smoker with rifle. Pipe, hat and feather. Comes with 3 smoke cones. Stamped underneath with" Deutsche Demokratische Republik" These stamps were used after the 2nd world war when Germany was devided and the Polish and Russian occupied part became East Germany. Earlier smokers had stickers with Erzgebirge mostly white with reddish writing and were attached with glue. Many of these stickers dried over time and fell of. After 1945 stamps with Deutsche Demokratische Republik and depending on a time frame had deer or other IDs put into the stamp.

Primitive Beekeeping Bee Smoker Vintage Antique Tin with wood leather bellow
Found this old tin and wood beekeeper bee smoker at an IOWA FARM AUCTION. The smoke chamber is leather on the outside and fully intact. The tin canister has a good bit of surface rust but is still solid and has the strainer inside. Appears to have all the metal brackets that came with it originally; top removes easily. It is in decent condition and could be used as a nice display piece with a little cleaning. Any writing that was on the wood bellow has faded away. The air pumps very well and could be used if you’d like. It is 10" tall at the spout. The bellow is 7.5” Tall and 5” wide. Please email with any questions. Selling as is. As pictured with no reserve.
