Pre 1940 Hobart A120 Stand Mixer Works Great!
Ok so i called hobart to verify this mixers age. The gentleman I spoke with said his records go back to 1940 with a 6 digit serial number starting with 67. This serial number starts with 48 which predates their records! Parts are readily available should you ever need them so please don't be discouraged by its age. they've been made exactly the same for years. Only difference is this was made pre ww1 which means this is probably made from REAL UN RECYCLED STEEL which is a good explanation how its stood the test of time. Does not leak! Even so seals are priced from hobart at $36 Works great. Ran it for maybe 20mins straight with no issues. I popped the top to make sure there is plenty of grease. All 3 gears ran with no issues. Missing a chrome plated screw on the shift lever. Lots of nicks and dents to all chromed areas, this was actually ... morestill in use up till a couple months ago when the local candy kitchen shut down. It may look rough but for $200 I can get this blasted and painted, Im sure for the price if you wanted you can find a place too. This Hobart VCM40 is being sold for parts or repairs. Because of some condition issues. The unit was turned on with the blade installed and with loose parts stored inside the bowl. This caused dents and scratches to the inside of the bowl and lid. I worked on these with a steel brush. To bring down the sharp edges, but several dents and scratches remain. There is heavy rust at the base of the motor sleeve. The bottom bowl seal need replaced. The motor and controls work properly. The salad insert and sight guard work properly. The scraper and handle have several deep gouges, and may not be salvagable. Only the pictured items are included.
