Being offered is an antique light switch wall plate from an old English Tudor home in an affluent suburb of New York City. The plate is solid brass and heavy. It has very nice patina on the front. I cleaned the back up a little to be able to read the markings. MADE ITALY" is clear; the other small words look like: FADM CANTU" Condition: there is a bit of paint on the edges(from the plate not being removed when the wall was painted) The border of the plate has a mirror finish which shows tiny spots of tarnish. I think it adds to the antiquity of the piece. But you, of course, can clean it if you desire. This switch plate would be the perfect addition to an old house under renovation- it's old and not 100% perfect. But it is original and fully functional. RARE and unique Large BRASS Antique Otis Elevator Car Switch Cover and"UP/Down" Call Button. Both items are from the Central National Bank building in Richmond. Virginia and were purchased from an estate there. The handle is not attached but could easily be repaired for display. It does have the original red bulb cover and the original Yale lock. Both are in good shape for their age without any defects and with great patina. The Switch Cover is 29 inches tall by 11 inches wide and weighs approximately 23 pounds. The call button cover is 8 inches by 2 1/2 inches. Vintage. Brass switch plate cover. Measures 5 1/2" long by 4 1/2" wide, weighs 8 ounces. For a single, toggle light switch. Embossed onto the back side is" VM 24- 17 ORNAMENTAL SWITCH PLATE" The front has a crest at the top with a lion and Viking ship. There is an open crest for the switch in the center. Filigre, scroll work around the outside edge. Measuring from the center of the hole for the screw to the other screw hole center is 2 3/8" The opening for the switch is 7/8" long by 7/16" wide. Virginia Metalcrafters goes back to 1890. My best guess on the age of this switch plate cover is 1950s. Condition: Probably dates to the mid-century era but looks antique. This base is drop dead gorgeous in person. It is made from solid rosewood and comes with the power switch and original power cord. This is NOT an aftermarket base. And it is not simply an original that has been re-veneered in rosewood. This original equipment solid rosewood base was an optional upgrade available from Elac/Miracord when the 50H was new. And has been beautifully preserved, and still retains its original finish. It is exceedingly rare. I have been collecting for decades and have never seen or even heard of one before. An internet search reveals no information whatsoever, but here it is! The dark, almost pitch black marks on the sides are completely natural, and typical of Brazilian or possibly East Indian rosewood. I have veneered several pairs of speakers and many subwoofers in rosewood and am confident this is the real thing, ... morebut let the pictures be your guide. A metal plate is affixed to the back of each piece. The 2-toggle switch plate has two cracks in it. However. The metal plate on the back prevents any movement and keeps it secure. The outlet plates and 1-toggle switch plate measure 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" The 2-toggle plate is 5 1/4 W x 5 1/2" H.
