A TRUE collector's dream! Genuine KAY BABY BASS B5 Also known as the Jazz Cello. Baby Kay, or Cellobass. Kay produced only about 50 of these units between 1961-1968. This particular one is from 1966. Known by the serial number, 53114. These were made at the inspiration of famous jazz bassist RAY BROWN. Old ads feature Brown with one! He wanted a smaller bass for travel. Check out his vintage LP entitled Jazz Cello. The BABY BASS is made on a slightly larger Kay Cello chassis. Fitted with bass strings, and it is tuned one octave higher than a traditional 3/4 upright bass. It can also be tuned as a traditional cello, which is how we've played it over the last 20 years. Up for auction is one used: Yamaha Silent Cello. Model SVC 100; with original soft-case. This instrument is overall in very good condition; there are only a few small surface-nicks here and there. The mo st mentio nable c osmetic flaw came from an unfortunate knock a gainst a music-stand that caused a very small splinter of wood to come off from the corner of the fingerboard. This is at the very end neares t the bridge; it's not under the strings and is at the actual corner where the fingerboard has been cut, where you don't e ven play. I gently sanded it smooth so that it couldn't snag or worsen. And I now don't notice it. Really. The in strume nt has been taken very good care of. And save for this one event. Never abused. Moving on from cosmetics. It functions as-new. The bridge is straight. It goes witho ut saying that ... morenew strings should sound better; but these are quite playable. There's fu nctionally no measurable difference between this'cello and a new one besides price. What you do get with a new instrument is the benefit of the manufacturer's warranty. Should you decide to buy this instrument. I do therefore recommend a third-party warranty through a company such as SquareTrade for your own peace-of-mind. Up on the auction block I have a Scherl and Roth full size cello. This cello measures 48" Tall and slightly over 17" at the widest part. All of this cello is in good condition with the exception of the bridge and neck. The bridge came loose(is all intact however) however it came unglued. You will need to re-attach the bridge. Get a new set of strings and one of the tops on the tail is missing. From what I have been told it is a fairly easy fix. This vintage cello is awesome.it was pretty easy to tune and sounds awesome.there is some wear from the last 70 years but overall it is in good shape.i am selling it as is because of the age.Please look at all pics before bidding.but i can assure you that it plays well and sounds cool and vintage.perfect for an indie project or something looking for a vintage sound.it is a KAY brand built in the 1940's,but it looks great considering the age.also comes with possibly original soft vinyl zipper bag. I cleaned her up and put on a new bridge and strings. She plays very nice with a good vintage big tone. This is so old check it is being sold as is. Check out the pictures carefully. There are some pictures of some past repaired cracks in the neck. It has been strung up in the shop for about 6 months with no movement in the cracks. Yamaha SVC-200 Silent Electric Cello with bow & padded bag
Used Yamaha Silent Electric Cello SVC-200 with bow and soft padded case This cello is in great playing condition. It folds up and is great for travel. But it does have some cosmetic issues from use(please review pictures carefully) several superficial dings. Plus it has two small pieces of duct tape attached to the sides of the cello(my son placed them there to protect the finish from the knee supports bumping the body when being closed, not realizing that the tape could not be removed without damaging the finish) The cello does not have any cracks and is structurally sound. Is also missing the chest support. My son played this instrument just fine without one, but you can buy a replacement from SHAR. Full size cello measures in total body& neck length 48 1/2" the main lower body is 29 3/4" long and 17" wide; the fingerboard is 23" long. The label inside reads Karl Hofner Bubenreuth Made in Germany. The model number is hand written on another label and looks like 4LP or possibly 42P; the serial number is 1074-15- I assume that means this was the fifteenth cello made by Hofner during October of 1974. My photos do not show them but also included is a fine olive color canvas zippered bag with extra zippered compartments& a fine Wittner Germany tailpiece. The cello is not perfect for certain: the base of the neck has a professionally ... morerepaired crack and the fingerboard has come loose but is fine and just needs to be glued back in place. The cello otherwise is in fine clean solid condition ready for some minimal restoration- please check my photos carefully. Made of magnificent flamed maple wood- exceptional quality from a legendary German maker. HOFNER HISTORY: The Höfner company was founded by Karl Höfner(1864– 1955) who. Having been apprenticed to Anton Schaller as a violin maker, sold his first violins in 1887. He established his works at Schönbach then the European centre of stringed instrument making. His reputation grew and so did his business as he sold instruments of the finest quality throughout Germany, Austria-Hungary, Russia and other European countries.
