Originally part of a child's complete tea set. The tiny Chinese shaped cup stands 1 1/2" tall on a raised pedestal base and measures 2 1/2" across the top rim. Made without a handle, as were most of the earliest tea cups. The color is a rich Salopian style black transfer, with a hand painted cobalt blue edge and pearlware glaze. The piece was impeccably potted and light bodied. The little cup depicts a young man holding a birds nest being inspected by a girl with a dog. A tiny beaded inside edge with a bold yet delicate floral border trim finishes off the inner rim. The image wraps full round the ... moreperimeter of the cup. With a prominent seam. The decoration is very rich, with very little white space remaining. The cup is unmarked. It was made in the Staffordshire potting egion. Antique PLAUE Porcelain BIRD ON NEST by SCHIERHOLZ & SON c 1880, FINE GILT, RARE

And once we get down to an image of the C. G. Schierholz& Son mark, you will see why I have assigned a date of around 1880, rather than a few years earlier. I’m not saying it is not earlier. Because of the texture of the“flat” bottom, it is difficult to say for sure. It is almost 3 ¾” tall at the tail. The actual nest is 4 ¼” in diameter and 2” deep. The gilding has remained in fine condition with only the most minor wear– certainly nothing degrading. I’m certain it is the nicest example ... moreyou’ll find– likely the only one. They are nearly impossible to find in any condition. It remains as dirty as the day I found it many years ago. I immediately determined it to be“a keeper. and it has been in our little cabinet of rarities ever since. You will want to give it a gentle bath. CONDITION REPORT: Other than needing a bath– Although difficult to tell for certain. I believe the tip of each wing is ever so slightly dinged. One must look with a loupe to notice, but that is my opinion. One probably– one maybe) As with most handmade porcelain of the period, you will note glazed over“joints” where pinches or pours of the wet the mixture come together to form the whole. You will note such a joint in each of images directly above, and I show them without apology. It is as it should be. One is just below the bird’s fanny. The other is on one side of his neck. Even though they flattened a small area of the bottom upon which to place the mark. It isn’t as crisp and clear as one would see on a perfectly flat glazed surface. It is, of course, under the glaze. DELICATE RETRO VINTAGE 1950's UTILITY STYLE NEST OF TABLES HAND-MADE'WARE-RITE' PLY UNIQUE VGC Both Large and Medium tables are laminated in Teak on one side and Dark Brown on the underside whilst the Small table is laminated in Teak on both sides. The legs are cut from 1/2" ply and stained as shown in photographs. As a kid I can remember my late Father making these in his shed in the early fifties. He was working at the'WARE-RITE' factory in the Town which specialised in this NEW form of laminate. It was an early Formica(I think they took the business over later that decade) Every evening for what seemed like months. I would watch him as he spent hours laminating. Trimming, staining and assembling the components. The tables were always of a delicate construction but NEVER got broken. Despite being in constant use ... morefor over fifty years until they were retired to storage in the loft around 2004. Large Table is 405mm x 300mm x 420mm High Medium Table is 3405mm x 250mm x 395mm High Small Table is 285mm x 205mm x 360mm High My items are all from the Estate of a deceased relative and need a loving home. I'm no expert and can only describe items as I see them. I've made no attempt to re-touch the pictures or tidy up any of the items for photography purposes. If you have questions. Up for bid is a wonderful Victorian aesthetic period silverplate lidded sugar basket by Wilcox. The box is 4 ¾ inches long. 3 3/8 inches wide and stands about 6 inches tall with the handle up. The removable lid has a chased pattern and an applied bird-on-nest finial. The body has a bail handle, stippled sides and an aesthetic band of bird decoration around the base. The piece has not been monogrammed. The box is marked”QUADRUPLE PLATE” with a Wilcox Silver Plate Co. circular mark and“1935” Condition on the basket is quite good. There is the tiniest amount of wear-through on some of the edges. But it is barely noticeable. The interior has some deep scrapes and gouges, but no plate loss. This all-original earl y German ornament inc ludes a number of Victorian materials: a blown glass nest and bird. Crinkle-wire wrapping around each. A composition red berry WIRED to the bird's beak in the original crinkle wire, finely-shredded green paper inside the nest indentation, a green tucksheer tail for the bird, and a metal spring clip. This is a large and showy old ornament at 4 1/2" tall and 4 1/2" wide(length of bird counting tail) The blown glass ne st is 2 1/2" in diameter. The nest's satin red"sunset" color is a rare color that we have only seen on one other old German ornament. And that was a rose. This large old clip-on ornament would have been the"Cadillac" of ornaments- it really"has ... moreit all. The orna ment is in v ery nice condition with minor age-related wear. Mostly to the green tucksheer tail. The tucksheer tail is glued in with an early German tan-colored glue often used in constructing clip-on birds. 1900s Glass Log, Bird Nest, with Bird on Spring. Very Unique German Ornament.
Early 1900s Unusual Song Bird perched on a Glass Log Bird House. Spun Glass Tail. Glass German Glass Christmas Tree Ornament. A very early 1900s bird themed ornament. Created in the early 1900s, or perhaps before. Silvered inside. Glass molded log bird house. In pasted colors. Just look at the molding of the bark. fabulous. Little hole in which the bird enters. to live. Little glass annealed projection on which is placed a spring. And on that spring. A tiny song bird. Pearl colored Body-finished with ground glass chips for an unbelievable glow. Pastel body. With blue and soft orange on the bird's head. White spun glass tail. Black eyes and red beak. 5.75" and in very good condition. I want to add this. Many forget that a positive form had to be carved out of pear wood. And what artistry that took. If a family was more wealthy, they ... morepurchased the molds. If they were a poorer family, they rented them from one of six companies who produced the molds for use in this cottage industry. This was a cottage industry. A means for the Germans to make money during the winter when they could not work in the fields. The sons and fathers blew the ornaments. The girls and mom would silver the ornaments inside, and then individually paint the ornaments, and grandma would take to the train station in the spring when the others were back in the fields. Then they went to the sea coast, put on ships, and arrived in New York to be delivered across the country, and we used them to decorate our trees. The origin is Lauscha, Germany. We are an older couple which are down-sizing. And put up one tree in our den and one in our dining room. These ornaments did not fit on the trees this year, and it seems senseless to keep them in boxes in the back closet. So hopefully new caretakers can be found for these German ornaments being listed tonight. There is nothing wrong with these Christmas ornaments These being listed today are in very good shape. Very Neat Vintage Set of Mahogany Nest Of 3 Tables From England
This auction is for a neat vintage set of Mahogany Nest Of Three(3) Tables from England. This is a nneat set of tables. Each is made out of mahogany& mahogany veneers. The veneer is the older thicker cuts and not like the 70's models that was thin veneer over particle board. These have solid nagogany sprons or frames with pretty slender solid magohany legs. They would add interest& charm to any room. They Look Good stacked or you can set them around seperately. When needed. The largest table is 18 1/4" X 13 3/8" and is 19 5/8" tall. The middle size table is 14 3/4" X 12 1/4" and 18 5/8" tall. The smallest table is 12" X 10 5/8" and 17 5/8" tall. Each has minor blemishes to the finish(light or dark spots or marks) to the tops.
