1960's Hamm's Beer Bank Red Wing Ceramic or Stoneware Rare Blue Trim Bear Bank
DESCRIPTION: This is an exciting find in beer advertising. This is a twelve inch Hamm's Beer Bank made in the shape of a bear with a slit for putting the money in the front. The Bear is holding a sign that shows a blue lake with trees and is printed"Hamm's Beer. From the land of sky blue waters" I believe this is the 1960s Hamm's Beer Red Wing Pottery Ceramic or Stoneware Bear Bank with Rare Blue Trim. The item has been used. The bear has what looks like a slight chip on the coin slot that is under the glaze. The back of the Bear has a small place where it looks like the paint was touched up. The spot(shaped like a tadpole) is 1 3/4" long and at the widest area it is 5/8" and at the most narrow spot it is 1/8" Check picture 9 for size but the white glare is from the lighting. The area looks black. The ... morebank has felt on the bottom of the feet that is wearing off. See picture 12. Other than that the bear bank is in excellent condition. She always had it in her special cabinet. It is made in the USA, is nice and sturdy, and has a snowflake pattern all around. It measures about 7-1/2" high x 8" across x 6" wide. There are no chips or cracks in the pitcher but it does come with a few flaws. These flaws were in the pitcher when she bought it. They do not go all the way through the ceramic. A very vintage piece to add to your kitchen to serve lemonade, Kool-Aid, iced tea or water. It also is just pretty to look at. I am pleased to be able to offer for sale One(1) very colorful ceramic Fall Harvest Cornucopia planter/vase centerpiece. This nice sturdy piece weighs approx. 1 1/4 pounds with raised colorful. Orange, brown and green fruits and vegetables on a raised light brown basket weave. It measures approx. 6" tall to the highest point with an approx. 3 1/4" top opening. It is approx. 4 3/4" wide. I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase this second hand(it is NOT NEW) and there are paint chips on the vase which I tried to capture in my pictures. This is an early Showa vintage(c. 1940) Japanese hand thrown ceramic Ikebana vase from the Shiga kilns near Hikone. It is signed by the potter. Kyusai(see pictures 7& 8) I purchased it at auction in the Japanese city of Hikone in Shiga prefecture. It has all the earmarks of typical Shigaraki glazed porcelain from the late Meiji Era and early Taisho Era. Typical of the Shiga style glaze is the drip variation seen in the front of this vase. There is also an unusual dimped front and side handles. This vase also displays some of the notable characteristics of Japanese Raku and Bizen pottery. It has been in storage for over 60 years and remains in excellent condition. Measures 7" high by 5" across with a mouth 2" wide(18 x 12.5 x 5 cm) Glazed inside and out. Shekwan Ceramic Chinese MUDMAN Wiseman carrying arrows on back
If you just started collecting Mud figures. You will find that some thrived Manchurian Ch'ing Dynasty(1644-1912) as they were different from ordinary figurines. They were made individually by hand. Mudmen were brightly glazed figurines of men, women, wise men and old sages, seated or standing, holding flutes, scrolls, pots, fish and other objects of mystical importance or sometimes fishing. The smaller ones, the artist picked a small piece of mud and made a figurine out of it by using their two fingers. The average-sized figures. The'mud' or clay were pressed into a mold by hand. Each part was individually molded and assembled by various crafters at the appropriate time- thus, the varying degrees of quality in the pieces. Once the torso was removed from the mold, the extremities- head, hands and legs or feet- were added, along ... morewith the hair, hats, beards and other items. To add further detail, eyes, nose and ears would be pierced. Then the entire collection was fired in a kiln to cure the clay. Fingerprints can often still be seen, immortalized in the fired clay. Each mudman was hand painted with a low temperature lead glass glaze in yellow. Blue or green glaze with the occasional use of white or brown. The face, hands and feet were left unglazed to expose the natural color of the mud. The rocks, shoes or sandals were painted with a dark brown, almost black under-glaze, that was often used to paint hair and facial features as well. Occasionally the rocks were painted a red oxide or yellow ochre. This piece is in good condition with the exception of his left hand missing. A piece of his hair is cracked and his hat has a crack and there is some light crazings which just adds to it beauty and as you would expect for its age. This piece measures 10 inches tall and 3.5 inches at it's widest point. Please look at the photos as I have shown each imperfection before bidding. This is an antique! Lot of 6 Portuguese Tiles made at Fabrico Ceramica Viuva Lamego. These are most likely reproductions as they were salvages from a backer board display. They are handpainted and reflect the Moorish. Spanish and Islamic influences. At 5.5 inches square, the 6 tiles would be enough to at least a 33 inch backsplash. Probably slightly more when you include the grouting. Or, they could be assembled to form a tile"picture" on your wall using the blue, green and gold as accent colors in the room.
