Up for auction with NO RESERVE is a vintage Sears Supertone Hawaiian guitar. It has a stencil painted hawaii scene with palm trees. A man and woman sitting on the beach in front of the ocean with a sailboat and birds. It has some age wear, some minor loss to paint and some surface scuffs/scratches, one broken string, this was a favorite of the previous owners so its been played allot but still has allot of life left in it just needs a little TLC. It could use a little cleaning it has not been stored in a case so there is some dust inside. Beautiful pre-war acoustic guitar most likely made in Chicago in the mid-thirties. Similar to Supertone. Stromberg Voisinet, and other makes that used brightly colored decals to decorate the guitars. This one is certainly over the top with added purfling along the top binding, and a pearloid fretboard and pickguard. Really really nice. All original great condition with the exception of a replaced bridge. Plays only okay in the first position as the neck angle has moved slightly over the years. Works quite well and has ready action as a slide guitar. No cracks or breaks, and has the original case with purple lining. All laminated birch body. Birch neck with maple fingerboard. Maple(I think) bridge. Bolt-on neck. 18 frets. Neck is 1 11/16" wide at the nut. Round. Full neck profile. 24 1/4" scale length(12 1/8" nut to 12th fret) Body is 13 7/16" wide at the lower bout, 9 5/8" wide at shoulders, 3 1/16" deep. N-5" stamped inside. I don't think that's a model number. Though. Might be a date code.1965? There's water damage at the butt end of the body. ... moreNo mold or mildew smell. The sides. Top, and back are seperated at the endpin area. Endpin is missing. 11" top seperation from center seam at endpin to the waist on the treble side, 4 1/2" on the bass side. 12" back seperation on the treble side, approx. 8" on the bass side. The finish on the top shows some crazing/raising of the grain effect on the bottom 3" or so. There's an area of flaking finish on the back with a few spots of flaked off paint. The top is flat and level. Not at all sunken under the bridge area. The neck is straight, without strin tension just a slight amount of relief when checked with a straight edge, so with string tension it might have slightly more relief than would be ideal, but within normal bounds. NO fret wear at all, ZERO. If not for the damage noted above. The guitar would be in near mint condition.the finish shows no playing wear at all, the guitar likely was seldom or never played since it was new until it suffered the water damage. Vintage 1930s Hawaiian Acoustic Parlor Guitar Hawaii HULA GIRL Stencil RICHTER
This stenciled parlor guitar was made in the 1920s or 1930s by Richter Manufacturing Co. of Chicago. Illinois. The body seems to be all birch wood with a sunburst finish. The yellow-gold stencil features a Hawaiian hula girl playing a ukulele under palm trees with the setting sun over the ocean in the background. The guitar has a chunky round neck(appears to be mahogany) and includes the ORIGINAL rope strap. Richter made stencil guitars with western themes for Montgomery Ward and the Hawaiian stencil designs are harder to find. Guitar is stamped"Richter Mfg Co. on the outside of the headstock. There is a number stamped on the bottom of the neck inside the guitar and it's difficult to read, but looks like 46700. Guitar is in good condition for its age. Bridge is broken; missing a peg; body has scratches and scuffs; and the top and ... morebottom are coming unglued at several points— please see photographs for details. Still. 1920's 1930's VINTAGE SUPERTONE TRUMPET ORIGINAL SILVER FINISH SAYS MADE IN USA ON THE BELL This is a nice SUPERTONE trumpet in original condition. The finish on this is in nice shape with a few nicks and scratches but actually very nice for and instrument of its age. Supertone was a brand sold by Sears and Roebuck in the 20's thru the 30's I assume that is what this is. I know Harmony built sears Supertone guitars until about 1940. Not sure if they sold anything branded Supertone after 1941. I've had Supertone Accordions and guitars all from before the war. I'm guessing this was a stencil from Conn or Martin or Buescher or? If you know and you'd like to share I'd love to know. I've done some internet searches and can't say for sure. We've seen a lot of mandolins come through our doors. And this is definitely one of the coolest, nicest, and best playing/sounding we've ever had the privilege of checking out. This is a beautiful Supertone that probably dates to the 20's-30's era, and it's in amazing condition! It's always nice to find the ones that look as beautiful as they sound, because it just makes for an amazing instrument. This little guy sounds incredible.it booms, it's clear, and it's warm. Plenty of definition in the notes, and they play with ease. The action is great, and gets only slightly higher near the soundhole, but the major positions are great. It stays in tune very well, and all the tuners work. It has some beautiful stencil and binding inlay on the body, and there's no signs of any cracks. Offered is a neat old brass stencil for the Iver Johnson Dog Bed manufactured by E. Salow Co. of Boston. Massachusetts. Iver Johnson was a maker of guns, motorcycles, and bicycles from 1871 to 1993. Whether these dog beds were made for them by another company, or if the dog bed was just named for the famous gun, I do not know; but this piece would make a wonderful decorative item in a primitive setting. Rare Clean Vintage Antique 1920's 1930's HARMONY Soprano Uke Ukulele Stencil Top
This is about as nice as they come. This is one of the earliest Harmony Ukuleles. Dating from between the 1920's and 1930's. The uke is in near perfect condition. The decal is excellent. This ukulele has had very little use. And a near perfect finish. There is four original tuning pegs. The body has a great looking Stencil top finish. The neck show some wear, but is nice a straight. And almost all were sold as stencils(made by Beaugnier for other saxophone makers) These horns come in several different vintages, and the precise dating is not quite nailed down yet, because there isn't a lot of data surviving. In any case, all of the Beaugnier's that I have played have been very impressive saxophones. The tone is somewhere between Selmer and SML- French, lyrical, interesting, and flexible. It is an A. Robert Paris stencil 18 keys. 7 rings, Articulated G#C# and Forked Bb/Eb clarint in the key of Bb(b-flat) The"A" in the name stands for Alexandre being his 1st name. It dates circa 1935-1941. Baxter Northup was/is a premiere store of the Los Angeles area. The clarinet is made from very tight grained grenadilla wood with high quality solid nickel silver keys. It is apparent that a higher percentage of copper was used resulting in a finish that is very close in resemblance to silver. It has a classic cylindrical bore design that measures 14.85mm. Since ... morethe bore is smaller than 15.00mm. It is considered a medium bore clarinet. Big bore clarinets measure 15.00mm and above. This clarinet is very similar in design to vintage Leblanc's professional series LL& L7. It plays in tune better than a big bore clarinet due to the reduced bore size, yet retains the free blowing qualities of the cylindrial bore design that big bore clarinets have. Addtional Keys/Rings: 1) There is the articulated G#C# on the lower joint that allows for easier and more efficient trilling and fingering passages 2) There is the forked mechanisim Bb/Eb on the upper joint for easier trilling and more efficient fingering on difficult passages. 3) 7th ring is for easier trilling Ab and Bb as well as broaden the players scope. OLD GREAT GRETSCH AMERICAN ALTO SAXOPHONE MARTIN STENCIL?
Here's a nice old saxophone that had been owned and passed down in one family before I acquired it. Very nice engraving on the bell. Bell says The Great Gretsch American on it. Nice gold colored lacquer which is probably original to the horn. Not any noticeable dents. There are some scratches on the horn and wear on the keys and the normal use spots. Low pitch. Serial number 185703, and the neck matches. The octave mechanism is bent, so that will need some attention. Most of the keys work, except a lower one which I think will need a new spring. Probably will need the usual maintenance, cleaning, re-pad that an old horn like this usually needs. I was told this was a Martin stencil, but I do not know for sure, and I don't know if the person I bought it from had had it looked at or anything. Sherwood (Conn Stencil?) Silver plated Tenor Sax
I have a what I believe to be a Conn stencil silver plated tenor sax marked Sherwood Master USA. I've read of an alto Sherwood on SOTW that was said to be a transitional Conn stencil(transitional between a New Wonder and a 6M) and my tenor seems to be the tenor version of that. It has most of its original silver plated finish and some dents(which I've tried to picture) but doesn't seem too beat up for its age(I think it ws made sometime in the late 1940's) In the past I've owned both a 10M and an Art Deco transitional tenor. And this tenor plays and sounds very much like my Art Deco tenor(as best as I can remember) but it has both bell keys on the left side like a 10M. The tone holes are straight(not rolled) which I understand is typical for Conn stencils and the octave mechanism is Chu like, not like a 10M. The horn plays ... moretop to bottom on a mix of older and newer pads but I can't subtone down to low Bb so it is going to need some adjustment and/or pad work(the top f pad looks ng, for example) but I've played my last few gigs on this horn with the pads the way they are. The intonation is very good and the 2nd d is not sharp like it often is on vintage horns. I am selling it with the pictured non original pro-pack case but without a mouthpiece. Unexpected bills force this sale or it wouldn't be leaving my place. The sax can be seen and played in Edison, NJ and I reserve the right to cancel the auction early as the horn is being offered locally, so act quickly! This horn plays with a sound that is as good as it gets and has that vintage American vibe.

Came from private estate auction in Indianapolis. I dont play and am not very knowledgable in woodwinds. Keep questions elementary please. I googled Conn serial numbers and this 64280 came up to be a 1921 model. This is known as a private stencil. Conn would make these private stencil models for schools. Bands, etc, without putting the CONN name on them. Google(AllExperts) for this info if you are not aquainted with this. This is a HAMILTON with matching HAMILTON old wood/leather hardcase. The sax looks structuraly good except for needing relaquered. Mother of pearl, tabs, and even old leather gaskets look fair to good. Mouthpeice has no name nor markings on it.
