Vintage GEC Moving Coil Microphone Mic Made in England Retro
Very cool microphone with a large moving coil. The design originated from the Western Electric type 618A(circa 1931) which used a'dynamic' moving coil as the transducer. These microphone is very heavy 2.4 Oz or 1Kg and was originally used for(hand-held interviewing) The mics overall performance is excellent, with coil resonances damped by acoustic filtering which was incorporated in the mechanical construction. GPO BT Black 746 Dial Telephone GEC 1970s Phone Vintage Eames Era Panton Working
This is a beautiful. Fully working and converted 1970's BT/ GPO 746 telephone in the very popular, desirable and contemporary glossy black colour. On the base it is marked, 746F GEN 74/1 for 1974, so it is now 39 years old. It was manufactured by G.E.C. The General Electric Co Ltd of England) I have removed the case. The mouth piece, the ear piece, dial outer ring and blanking button on top and cleaned and polished them thoroughly, including careful removal and cleaning of the dial and the number plate, the casing and handset have come up good, with the usual usage marks/ scratches for the age, remember this isn't a brand new item. There are no splits or cracks to the black plastic and no obvious signs of discolouration. Overall. This example would grace any telephone collection nicely or just for everyday use as these telephones ... morewill outlast any modern replica. The original clear plastic centre disc is in place and retains one of my very good quality paper disc for'Park Lane 2984' The dial is very smooth and the curly black handset cable has been thoroughly cleaned, has no twists and is tight and not stretched. The black line cord is brand new. The four rubber feet are in good condition. Speech is very clear and the switch ringer is working very well, nice and loud! It has a standard BT plug and is ready to use straight away with any landline that supports pulse dialling. Phones that use pulse dialling are compatible with most cable networks in that they will still accept incoming calls but will not dial out. So please be aware if your telephone line has pulse and tone dialling. I tested this phone on a BT and Virgin line making calls and receiving calls without any problems including mobiles. An excellent and stylish telephone, far better build quality than the modern reproductions and only going up in value due to its rarity and this popular colour combination. Welcome to another listing from Bakelite Electricals The first Bakeilte electrical restorer on ebay and now celebrating three years since the sale of our first fully restored Bakelite fitting. Suppliers to the Trade. Film, TV and Theatre as well as many, many happy personal and ebay customers. Big enough to be competitive. Small enough to care' Here we have a lovely restored period Brown Bakelite Door Bell Set. Consisting of round Door Bell Push. GEC Transformer and GEC Door Bell. In detail the Set consists of: New Old Stock(probably) Bakelite Bell Push- 45mm(1 3/4" in diameter. This Bell Push has no signs of use. And appears to be new. It is brown and has a lovely white push button. GEC Mains Bakelite Bell Transformer- 100mm(4" by 75mm(3" and 45mm(1 1/2" heigh. 200 to 250V AC input. 3, 5 and 8 V output. There was ... moreslight damage to one side by the earth entry point, I have repaired this with 2 part epoxy filler sanded and colour-matched, the repair can be seen it the appropriate photo, when fitted in position this repair will hardly show if at all. GEC make one of the best transformes in my view and they are very heavy a sign of good quality. GEC Bakelite and Chrome Door Bell- 160mm(6" by 75mm(3" max by 45mm(1 1/2" heigh. The chrome Bell has some surface marking that will not polish out. The ringer arm shows a minimal amount of surface rust but overall I would say the bell is in good condition and being GEC you can be assured of its quality, As with all the Bakelite items I sell. I have cleaned and polished the Bakelite both on professional buffing wheels(using different grades of polishing compounds) and then by hand with GPO developed Bakelite Cleaner No. 5 Paste to bring back the shine followed by 2 coats of Pure Beeswax Balsam to protect it for years to come. This is the the best possible restoration that can be carried out and is far superior to others who simply use a buffing wheel, if they really understood the nature of Bakelite and how it oxidises and dulls over time

2 x Quad II Valve Power Amplifiers Working and in Nice Condition Scroll down the page for lots of close-up pictures These have been left un-used for over 12 years. So here’s what we did to check them out: We gently woke these up with our variac and using a Quad 22 as a pre-amp we ran them for around 2 hours. All the valves produced a nice glow(see last picture) and they both had nice. Strong audio output. No nasty noises, no smoke, no smells. These are in nice condition. Most importantly there is no evidence of overheating transformers(no leaking black gunge) so often seen on these and a sure sign of a hard life. Please remember that these have not been used for around 12 years. Although they appear to be working when briefly tested it is quite possible that some critical components(capacitors and resistors) will need to be renewed before ... morefurther prolonged use. They measure almost identically(100) strong on my B& K model 600 tube tester.They have been connected to my reference quad amplifier and sound very sweet. The date stamps are identical both stating MK 10 indicating the same date and plant of manufacture.They are in good physical shape with original locating pins and firm bases.
