VINTAGE NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN BASKET PIMA ARIZONA **GREAT PIECE**
VINTAGE NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN BASKET PIMA ARIZONA*GREAT PIECE* Up for auction here is this great Native American Basket that I was able to acquire from a recent Estate Auction of a very serious Native American Collector. We were told that this basket was an Arizona piece. Probably from the Pima Tribe. Sometime around 1930. The owner said that his grandfather was given this basket when he was a young man by a tribe in Arizona. I don’t know much at all about this type of basket. So I am going by what we were told, as well as what I can see and what I have been able to find by researching this beauty. This is a two color basket with the body being a very light creamy tan with dark brown(Devil’s Claw? highlight elements and designs. The workmanship is very even. I have looked it over closely. And can’t see any breaks in the weaving. It is very ... moretight, showing some real skill as a basket maker. It has some very good age patina and age darkening. This basket is a superior example of Southwestern skill& creativity. It is hand coiled and hand woven. In a traditional design. This unique American Indian collectible is in very good condition with no stitch loss. The coils& stitches are extremely tight even though this bowl is over 80 years old! The natural color of the grasses has aged to a beautiful patina. It measures about 7" in diameter and stands about 3-1/2" deep. This one of a kind basket is a true Southwestern classic and a Native American made collectible. This would work well surrounded by other Native American collectibles or as an addition to your basket collection. I actually purchased two of these wonderful baskets at the estate sale. So please take a look at my other listing.I will combine shipping to multiple auction winners! I took a lot of pictures so that you could get a more accurate description. If you have any questions. Please do not hesitate to ask. PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU DON’T INTEND TO PAY. PLEASE DO NOT BID! I gladly ship to International bidders. But p lease ask questions. If any,

Northwest Coast Lidded Basket, Makah or Nootka, 4" w x 3" h XC 3 Ducks & Whaler
B-59] For sale in this auction is a northwest USA basket from Washington State and made by the people of the Makah or Nootka Community. And very likely in the mid- to latter part of the 19th century. As is typical of the baskets from this source, this one is made from beargrass and cedar strips, both of which are found naturally in the northwest fields and forests. A feature that is not as typical is the fact that the lid fits inside basket rather than over top of the rim of the basket. The basket is in excellent condition with no damage and no repairs. This basket is about three inches tall by four inches across the mouth. A fabulous and rare find at a modest opening bid. Thank you for visiting my auctions, and good luck to you in all your bidding. bdr 5=2.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fvo%7B2d71f%2B%3E5%3D2-13e0d8bc029-0xfc-

Monumental CHEROKEE Native American Indian RIVERCANE BASKET, Nancy Bradley, Wow!
Monumental and exceptional expertly hand made Cherokee river cane basket. Measuring 17" tall with a 12" x 12" square base, probably made in the1950's. It is very rare to see Cherokee river cane baskets of this size or quality for sale very often. Based on comparisons with other baskets(see photos) I would attribute this basket to Nancy George Bradley(Rowena Bradley's mother, who died in 1963) but I do not have documented history related to the basket. Nonetheless, this basket is the largest and one of the finest quality river cane baskets I have every owned(also one of my favorites) This Cherokee basket is in excellent condition for its age. I could only find two minor cane breaks that you have to look hard to find. No holes in the corners. This basket is a real beauty. And was obviously made by a true master Cherokee ... morebasket maker! This is an exceptional Cherokee river cane basket with great size and quality and is in wonderful condition for its age. I have enjoyed this basket for many years. But I am now willing to pass it along, for the right price, to another Cherokee river cane basket lover to enjoy. Insurance and tracking is included in the shipping costs. Don't miss out on this opportunity to purchase this awesome work of art! Thanks for looking!

Hand Tied Northwest Coast Siletz Clam Basket 10in Wide by 5in Deep (see note)
For sale in this auction is. As shown in the photos above, a very nice and well preserved hand tied clam basket from the northwest coastal Oregon. The basket measures about ten inches in diameter and about five inches deep, and it is made from hazel shoots and tight and firm to the touch. it may not be sound enough to haul clams, but it is Native made and Native used, and it displays very well. The lighter photos were made with flash, and the darker ones were made in indirect sun in the morning. The condition is good but for the missing handle and a few minor breaks along the rim. An authentic Native American clam basket for display purposes. Thank you for visiting my aucitons and good luck to you in all your bidding. bdr Note from a fellow ebayer: This is a Siletz clam basket. From the central Oregon coast, east of Newport. It is made from ... morewild hazel shoots. The two breaks on the rim are where the distinctive Siletz double handles were attached.so there is actually considerable damage, since it is missing its handles completely. This was not made for actual use. They were sold as souvenir items to early tourists on the Oregon coast. Although the design is based on actual clam baskets made for use. This size was made for sale. It was a primary source of income for many women on the Siletz reservation, and often the sole source of income for the family. American Indian Basketry Magazine. Issue 14, will confirm this identification, as will the book"Siletz, Survival for an Artifact. by Leone Kasner.

Navajo Pitch Basket Water Jug 8.25" Height 7" Diameter 3.25 Across the Lip of The Jar 1lbs 11.5oz = 27.5 ounces Excellent Conditon Both the Apache and Navajo made these practical baskets. For nomadic tribes. They were a practical invention for storing and transporting water. The inhabitants of the Pueblos were well served with ceramic vessels and various forms of clay pots. A basket was certainly more durable than a pot.and if could somehow be made leakproof. As you may know, this is made by first weaving a basket. Next, Pine Sap is collected. It is boiled and filtered and the basket is then dipped a number of times into the hot liquid Pine Sap. When it cures, you have a durable water container! I collected this in Window Rock. Arizona in 2005. It was purchased new at one of the six(at that time) official Navajo Tribal stores that ... moresells a large variety of Dine' made items. They have been in existence since 1941 and provide a great selling experience for the artist as well as a super place to shop. You may have noticed that these sometimes get knocked around a lot and often are chipped and cracked. Not this one! Beautiful Early CHEROKEE Native American Indian RIVER CANE BASKET, Ca.1930 Nice!
A great early. 1930's or older, adorable smaller sized finely hand made Cherokee river cane basket. You just don't see many Cherokee river cane baskets of this size, age, or color very often. This basket is the smallest"berry picking" river cane baskets I have every owned. I have only seen a few other river cane baskets of this similar adorable size. The basket is in excellent condition for its age. There are some minor cane breaks. But all of the corners are intact with no holes. Vintage Indian Lunch Picnic Feather Basket Stamped Winnebago Great Lakes
Vintage Indian Lunch Picnic Feather Basket Stamped Winnebago Great Lakes Fantastic! Very nice large Indian Basket from one of the northeastern tribes of the U.S. Made from Ash, natural and dyed splints, measures 13 inches in diameter x 14 inches tall. The sides are woven from ash and there are two wide bands in the center with stamped elongated dots done in red and blue, both being faded in areas, but still visible(shown in the close up outdoors shot) The lid is affixed to the handle and slides up and down allowing the user to prop the lid open while using things from inside. Works great to keep pests out of your picnic lunch goodies or if you are stripping feathers which keeps them from flying away. The handle is wooden and hand made with a lovely aged patina. There is a decorative ring of curls on the lid, once red, now faded to pink. One ... moreof the curls is chipped and split while a few more have a random split. The rest of the lid and basket seem to be free of any damage and overall in very fine condition for this utility basket. Beautiful dry patina on this one and fabulous size! Listing several from our collection this week so check them out and save on combined shipping. Check out my other items!

This sale is for a vintage Papago(Tohono O’odham) or Pima(Akimel O’odham) willow basket. From the early part of the last century, with black devils claw geometric designs in a cloud pattern. The basket measures about 7” diameter across the top, 4.5” bottom diameter, and 3.5” deep. It is in good used condition with several areas measuring about 1/8” to 1” of missing weft stitches mainly on the bottom and first coil above, but displays well-see photos. I bought this basket several years ago and it was represented as Papago. The basket is definitely a Papago or Pima willow basket. It is made from a warp that is probably cattail. With willow and devil’s claw weft. The geometric black devil’s claw cloud design is similar to design elements on modern Papago yucca baskets, so I agree it is most likely Papago. It appears to be from early in the last ... morecentury due to its patina and materials. Papago began making yucca baskets as early as the 1890s, as nolina(warp) and yucca(weft) were much more readily available and easier to work with than cattail and willow, which the Pima continued to use. Therefore, Papago willow baskets are seen much less often than Pima willow baskets. It is difficult to differentiate the two unless information on the maker remained with the basket, which rarely happens. Below is additional information on Pima and Papago baskets, if you are interested. Papago(Tohono O’odham. The Desert People) and Pima(Akimel O’odham the River People) have both made baskets out of the same materials, same starting knots/stitching, and with similar designs for centuries. Cattail(Typhus angustifolia) was used as the base(warp) and willow(Salix sp. light color weft) and devil’s claw(Martynia sp. black designs) were used as the stitches(weft) The Pima, living along rivers, had better access to willow and cattail, often used more willow than devil’s claw, and traded these materials to their neighbors, the Papago. The Papago had more devil’s claw and often used more of it in the basket. However, they both ma
