GE 5PY59JY1 TACH GEN 180VDC@ 1800 RPM 2500 RPM MAX FACTORY REBUILT This tach gen was removed and sent in for General Electric factory service and calibration at the request of one of our clients who was having trouble maintaining proper speed of their manufacturing equipment a few years back. At the time there was not another unit available for use as a spare and since their machine already had an Allen Bradley PLC which read the tach data for feedback. We installed a new Allen Bradley VHSC module and a shaft encoder as a temporary repair. Their problem remained and we discovered that the source was from a brushless drive motor which had a loose internal feedback encoder. After we re-timed their motor for them their problem vanished. They decided to keep the VHSC module and encoder we installed in place of this tach gen which had already ... morebeen sent to GE. We accepted this tachometer generator as a trade against our invoice to them after it came back. This was placed on a shelf after we received it and never had to use it since. There were tags and calibration data sheets which came back from GE but they were placed into a file folder in a file cabinet and we have not yet located them. We had used our vibration analyzer to locate the offending brushless drive motor which was constantly changing speed. Fighting other motors which had to respond to the variations in load caused by the loose encoder which we then re-timed. Thanks for looking.
