Old Century Invincible Electric Open Frame Motor Dynamo Hit Miss Gas Engine NICE
This is a real nice and early Century"Invincible" open frame electric motor. According to the fancy brass serial tag it is 1/4 horsepower. 104 volts, and 1750 rpm. The last patent date is 1900 so it's pretty early. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. It has an original type cloth cord on it. It has an excellent amount of original paint on it. I've tested it and it starts up and runs very nicely. It is quiet and very smooth. It has a cast iron mounting platform. The motor is about 7 inches in diameter and about 9 inches long overall. It would look great running an early electrically belt driven implement or would look just as nice displayed with the rest of your early electrical devices. This motor is either unused or not used much. I am not sure. Some how The motor was damaged, the cord was pulled through the housing and in fact broke two of the cast bosses on the motor frame. I simply drilled and tapped new holes slightly ahead of the broken tabs and it is now fine. The fan contained in the housing was not damaged and the connector for the motor controls is undamaged as well. The damaged parts are pictured. This is a 5.5 kW(7.5HP) permanent magnet 3 phase spindle motor. It is in a very nice. Heavy duty mount. This motor weighs over 300 pounds and will ship truck freight.
