What a statement this exquisite and antique. Samovar will make at your next elegant dinner party or buffet. We purchased this magnificent, silver plated, Samovar at a prestigious auction house in Connecticut and though it is unmarked, it was noted as American made circa: 1900’s to 1910 due to its styling and form. The samovar measures 17 inches high, 11.75 inches wide from handle to handle, 5 inches in diameter at the top opening and 5 inches wide between each foot. This gorgeous piece holds 15, eight ounce cups when filled to the top which is a generous size for today’s entertaining purposes. We filled up the samovar it does not leak, pours freely and shuts off easily. The urn shaped samovar rests upon four. Scrolled feet that have an ornate floral and leaf design. The two flowing and curved handles have a floral and leaf design and large, ... moreAcanthus leaves that provides comfortable thumb rests. Insulators have been added to each handle to absorb the heat from the contents within. A working spout decorated with a scroll design attaches to the samovar with a leaf decorated medallion. A slightly domed cover is topped with a striking, floral decorated finial. The uniqueness of this samovar is how the burner is attached. A cut out on one side of the samovar allows for the burner to be removed or placed inside. This makes for a very rare piece indeed. A more graceful and striking samovar would be difficult to find. Other than the small scratches found on estate pieces from prior use that gives a piece its luster. The samovar is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. There are no repairs and no flaking and silver wear to note. The inside has some very minor copper peeking through on the bottom as does some very slight copper peeking through around the rim on the cover but nothing more than would be consistent with age. I took a photo of the few dark spots that are on it, which may be small pitting spots, but not sure. No deep scratches, just typical stuff from age. EXQUISITE 1890’S VAN BERGH SILVER PLATED SAMOVAR 15 CUP GEM IMPRESSIVE AND VFINE
What a statement this exquisite Samovar will make at your next elegant dinner party or buffet. This very fine piece bears the Van Bergh Silver Plate Company hallmark. The firm was founded in 1892. In Rochester, New York. The Samovar/ Hot Water Urn bears an early pattern number, 496, indicating it was manufactured shortly after the company was formed. The company used this hallmark until 1924. This gem measures 16 inches tall, 10.25 inches wide from handle to handle, 5 inches in diameter at the top opening and 5.75 inches wide between each stylized, toed foot. This gorgeous piece holds a generous 15, eight ounce cups when filled to the top which is a great size for today’s entertaining purposes. We filled up the samovar it does not leak, pours freely and shuts off easily. The urn shaped samovar rests upon four. Stylized, feet that seem to ... morerepresent the stylized head of an ornate bird that culminates in a stylized, five clawed foot complete with nails. A very mythical representation. The front and back of the piece has been deeply etched with a gorgeous, large flower and leaf design that continues upward. On the front, two initials in fancy script are framed by the pretty, floral rendering. One can imagine that so many years ago, the Victorian hostess proudly served her dinner guests from this exquisite samovar. Two sweeping handles decorated with large, Acanthus leaves provide for ease in carrying. A striking floral and leaf design has been added to the top rim giving a handsome visual appeal to this charming samovar. A high domed cover is topped with a lovely topiary style finial. A working spout with a possible bone handle in the middle attaches to the samovar with a leaf decorated medallion. The burner is included and snugly fits into the base. Pair Nickel Plated Cast Brass & Milk Glass Towel Bar 15 Inch Glass Rod
These antique bathroom towel bars are not marker marked. The ends are made of nickel plated brass and the part that fits to the wall is 2 1/4 inches in diameter and sticks out 3 inches. The glass rods are held about 2 inches from the wall when they are mounted. The glass rod are a little over 3/4 of an inch in diameter with tapered ends that fit into the holders part way, 16 inches long and when mounted you will have about 15 inches of glass bar to hang your towel on.
