This beautiful working pink glass and brass plated lamp base is in fair vintage condition with some of the pink rubbed off from the glass. And some pitting in the metal. The pink glass measures about 6” across by about 3” tall, the base is 6” across, the lamp shade holder is 7” inside diameter, and the chimney holder is 3” inside diameter so it should fit a 3” chimney. This is a lamp base only with no chimney or shade, measuring a little more than 13 ¼” tall. It uses a standard size bulb. Felt under lamp needs to be replaced. International Silver Plated Pierced Basket with Base
This beautiful basket belonged to my mother. I would love to keep it. But I just don't have the room for extras like this in our house. It has a lovely, lacy, look, and with the graceful design of the handle, it's just a wonderful piece. I don't know much about silver and silver plate, but I did polish it a little with just baking soda and water. It needs a more thorough polishing, but I will leave that up to the buyer who hopefully has more experience. I don't know how old this piece is. Whether my mother bought it or it was given to her by my grandparents or her aunt. I know that it has always been in our family and I would estimate from the label that it dates back to mid century or thereabouts. All I can say for sure is that it was mostly stored in a china cabinet all during my childhood(1970's) and adulthood. This is a beautiful v intage gold plated look cherub compote(or bowl) with a marble base and prisms and a pair of matching candlesticks with crystal centers and prisms also. Probably from the 1960's the cherub is just gorgeous with great detail. The piece measures 13" tall and the diameter of bowl is 8" wide. The crystal( glass bowl is an allover diamond pattern and the center is a gold plated metal piece that is beautifully detailed and looks like a big rosette. Great shape with no cracks or chips in bowl. But I do see a couple minor'flea bites' on the edge of the marble below the cherub, not too bad but they are there. Candlesticks stand approx 7" tall. Mounted on imported onyx, they are a coveted addition to any place of honor. It is extremely rare in fact I cannot find another one for sale anywhere on the web-I can just see an old listing that one sold on ebay in December 2010. Ron Lee started dating his pieces in 1979. This is a nice. Bright whale oil lamp with a milk glass base and a pressed glass top, separated by a brass plated, over tin, middle. The lamp is 9 3/4" tall and 4 1/2" across the square base. The glass base is in good condition, but does have a tiny chip on one corner. See last picture) The clear top is in good condition, no damage, but someone has replaced the brass top and filled it with putty. This Vibroplex Lightening Bug was first owned by W3HZ. Horace G Dorsey(1876-1961) At least by the disposition of his estate, if not earlier, it was passed on to W8YM, Richard H Howe, 1898-1986) a close friend, fellow amateur, and electrical engineer with allied interests. I acquired it not long after Dr Howe's death when a member of Dr Howe's staff ... moreresponded to an ad I had running in QST magazine for telegraph bugs& instruments. Details on the key which was made in 1938 are at the end of this short history. W3HZ Herbert Dorsey. W3HZ, was an 1897 graduate of John Hopkins. During the next twenty years after graduation, Dorsey taught Physics at the Universities of Maine, Florida and Cornell and consulted as well for Western-Electric, NCR, Hammond Research Laboratory and the Submarine Signal Co. It was during these early years that Dr Dorsey applied for and was licensed as 3HZ, then W3HZ. His interest in electrical circuits developed steadily. In 1926 he joined the US Coast& Geodetic Survey(now NOAA) as principle Electrical Engineer pursuing research interests in hydrography and underwater acoustics. He was active with IEEE and served as chairman of the IEEE Washington branch from 1934-35. Before and during WW2, Dr Dorsey played a major role in the development of acoustical sounding methods& instruments. He held many patents and is considered by many to be the father of SONAR. Chrome Plated Round Metal Base 17.5" Diameter What is it- possible flagpole or crowd control rope pole stand As shown and found- original use we don't know. We think this is a chrome plated item. Our thought is it was. Or could be used as a flagpole base or crowd control rope pole stand. The center hole is NOT threaded and measures 3 inches in diameter. Exterior measurements are 17 1/2 inches. Total height is about 3 3/4 inches. Unbranded- has the letter" J" as a mark. Has the very slightest of a dent- you really have to look for it.
