Antique, Hand Carved Piece of a Sicilian Cart (carretto siciliano)
This is an original. Antique piece of a Sicilian cart that was obtained from Montreale, Sicily in 1982. I purchased several large pieces from a man who had cut some parts from an old cart his family had owned. He told me at the time that these were over 100 years old. The Sicilian cart(or carretto siciliano in Italian and carrettu sicilianu in Sicilian or carretti(plural) is an ornate. Colorful style of horse or donkey-drawn cart native to the island of Sicily, in Italy. The craft of making the carts is handed down from generation to generation. Through the training of apprentices. Carts are known for being covered in carvings and brightly painted scenes from Sicilian history and folklore as well as intricate geometrical designs. These scenes also served the purpose of conveying historical information to those who were illiterate. The colors ... moreof Palermo's flag. Yellow and red, feature prominently on the carts, along with details in bright blues and greens. The animals pulling the carts are often elaborately adorned as well. This piece measures 13.75"x10.0" x 2.0" and is in excellent condition considering it's age. It is solid and quite heavy(5.4lbs) and had some tiny worm damage to a bottom edge that does not detract from the entire piece. It is actually three segment pieces held together by two large hand forged bolts and nuts. This was hand carved and painted and the intricate detail and the composition are amazing. The subjects are angels and two faces that almost look like American Indians. The yellows and reds are some of the traditional colors used in these Sicilian carts. Original Sicilian cart parts are now very difficult to obtain. When I was in Sicily a few years ago. I saw some pieces that were not that old and any real antique original pieces have skyrocketed in price. There are a few refurbished Sicilian carts listed on eBay with the prices exceeding $14.000, none of which surpass the artistic carving and painting of this one piece. Vintage Tool Box from Wirt and Knox Patent Hand Fire Hose Cart NO RESERVE
This tool box was apparently removed from a Wirt and Knox patent hose cart. Look at the third picture for the identification tag on the back. It has been repainted black but I believe that the red paint underneath is original. I am not sure of the age. I found it being used as a tool box and none of the tools inside were newer than the 1930's. The style is very similar to metal tool boxes made for mechanics in the teens and twenties. The lid has two snap latches and a tab to open it but no provision for a lock as would be expected on fire apparatus in emergency service. It measures about 22 1/4 inches long by 9 1/4 inches wide and 7 inches deep with the lid closed. There are six holes in the bottom and two in the sides; the two in the sides and the four in the corners of the bottom appear to be original but the other two look to be a ... morelater modification. The hinges and latches all work smoothly. There are a few dents that will need some body work but there is no rust through or serious damage. It will weigh about 10 1/2 pounds packed to ship and I will ship either priority mail or UPS ground. If you are restoring an antique Wirt and Knox hose cart you won't see another one of these anytime soon.

This is a rare. Incredibly nice Aro hand cranked pump for a 16 gallon oil/grease drum. Also included in the sale is the drum and rare cart with cast-iron wheels. As you can see in the photos this pump has a beautiful clock-style dial with great patina. The crank handle knob is in great shape as well. The original cork float is solid and intact. The overall look of this pump, drum and cart is terrific. Hose appears to be solid with some slight checking(I tried to show this in the photos) Since the drum did not have any oil in it, the pump has not been tested to see if it works. Vintage 1940's Hand Forged Aluminum Serving Cart Made by the Everlast Corporation and Designed by Russel Wright This is a beautiful and rare aluminum serving cart. It was manufactured sometime in the 1940's by the Everlast Metal Products Corporation of New York City. Everlast collaborated with American industrial designer Russel Wright. The result was this magnificent creation. Russel's wife Mary was responsible for designing the"Falling Leaves" pattern that has been incised into the aluminum trays on this cart. All the pieces are hand forged with the fallen leaves pattern on a hammered background. The cart is very well constructed and incredibly stable. It is all aluminum though and very light weight and moves very easily on the wheels. It is in remarkable shape. This was found in the back of a storage unit and was ... morecovered and stored away for over 20 years. It was a remarkable find. The cart measures 43 inches long. 19 3/4 inches wide, and stands 32 1/2 inches tall on four nicely functioning wheels. All the pieces are removable and it actually looks like the cart was deigned to collapse to be more easily shipped and stored. However. I have not attempted to collapse it down and I do plan on it. There are 18 total pieces. This includes the cart. The attached trays, all the serving dishes, their lids, and even an aluminum spoon with one of the serving dishes. One of the trays is pictured with 4 empty holes. These are designed for placing liquor bottles on the cart. At this point in time. I am offering this cart with local pick up in Reno, Nevada. It is not that heavy but would require a very large box to ship it and quite a bit of money to ship. At some point I may actually find a box big enough and calculate shipping.
