Can’t wait! This is another of the 5 wonderful antique quilts I bought in County Durham last week- a beautiful. Pure white ... morehand stitched Durham quilt, dating to the 1920s- lovely intricate hand stitching. Freshly laundered, this quilt is in excellent condition, snowy white with no stains or damage- just two minuscule pale marks on one side(last photograph) which are hardly noticeable, but I mention them for accuracy. No feathering or wear to the edges. The hand stitched patterns are sewn in strips- two different patterns that show up so well on the plain white cotton broadcloth fabric. It is a large quilt, measuring 247cm x 226cm- shown on a King size bed. I love these soft, plain white quilts- perfect for both a country cottage or an elegant townhouse. More photographs below. Costume and accessories from a country house estate in SW Scotland, and some of the unusual items I acquired at the auctions I attended across the UK recently. I managed to buy 5 really beautiful antique Durham quilts last week– from a large house in County Durham– all listed this week. Can’t wait! I am listing 6 stunning antique Durham quilts this week- all bought from a large house in County ... moreDurham. This one is a wonderful warm"old" red. It is hand stitched with two different striped patterns. And the top and bottom have been handstitched with antique French mattress ticking that tones perfectly with the colour of the quilt. Both the quilt and the linen ticking fabric date to around 1900. The linen fabric was added to reinforce the areas that attract most damage. This is a summer weight quilt, with very light batting. Freshly laundered, I can spot no marks or stains. I can see a couple of tiny darns(2mm in diameter- hardly visible) otherwise no damage. This is an unusual colour, and would work wonderfully with faded florals and vintage ticking stripes. It measures 215cm x 218cm- I have shown it on a King size bed. It weighs JUST under 2kg, so shipping to international destinations is not too prohibitive. Gorgeous antique quilt! More photographs below. PLEASE READ. PIECE OF MACHINE STITCHED VINTAGE DURHAM QUILT PROBABLY 1930's Piece measures approx 29" x 31" This is a piece of machine stitched Vintage Durham Quilt which will date to the 1930's. It has been a beautiful good quality Quilt and I have been able to rescue four large pieces. Very Faded Paisley pattern on one side and plain fern green on the reverse. The gentle all over faded Paisley side is the better of the two. Has medium inner Stitching is superb(even though it is machine stitching) I have 3 pieces available. Freshly Laundered. Straight Razor DURHAM DUPLEX Antique UNUSED 1911 Original box instruction blade
Durham Duplex Straight razor complete with blade. Instructions, and box. The date is on the razor and on the pamphlet also. I do not know anything about this item other than I know it has never been used. The date on the paper and on the item itself is November 1911 and made in USA. The razor looks like stainless steel and the holder looks like bake lite material, but I am not sure. The box is a deep burgundy color and is in good conditions with normal wear over the years but is all in tact without any breaks or tears. It is made of a heavy cardboard and not plastic. This is a very sharp razor and should not be handled by novices. This is a great collectible and one that you would be proud to add to the finest collection. Look at all the pictures before bidding.
