The pocket sits down in about 1-1/4 inches. The caster wheels work fine. They have a nice machine age look to them. They are all original. They do have some rust on them. These heavy duty casters were on an industrial tool chest which was used for approx. 1 year on concrete floors. The box casters were changed out to a bigger set which is why I have these for sale. Description of chairs: these cane back barrel chairs on casters were picked up recently at an estate sale. And they are a beautiful vintage find! A stamp on the mechanical height adjustment knob on the bottom of the chair gives a date of 1977. 3 of the chairs are american made. Oak, and made by H.W. HULL. These are beautiful, high quality original spindle/cane barrel back chairs on casters. They have two adjustments, one for height an another to adjust the reclining feature of the chairs. These has never been repaired, and are just excellent vintage chairs. They do have some wear such as scuffs, small knicks, and some places where the original varnish is wearing down. None ... moreof that detracts from the function or form of the chairs, so they are ready to add their own distinct charm to the space you have in mind. The 4th chair is obviously a replacement for a chair that broke at one time. It was probably made in the 80's.
