Here is a very old steel sign saying NATIONAL on it. Original red paint, raised lettering; measures 11 1/2 x 2 1/4, two factory drilled holes on the sides. I am an antique junkie. I do a lot of traveling attending local auctions and estate sales. This is about 3" wide and 4 1/4" tall in good structural condition. It is lightweight. I know that Phenix Manufacturing from Milwaukee made garage door openers. Affixed to the enamel metal sign is a paper label with the title Filter Finder. It is marked 1985 Form No. F512 and helps the buyer determine which filter is right for their vehicle. This sign would have been used in a store as advertising. There are some scratches, edge wear and light soiling, but overall condition I consider Very Good Condition. Nice looking old sign came from central New Hampshire textile plant that my uncle worked at back in the 1960's- 70's. I believe signs in the plant were replaced in the late 1970's due to revised OSHA wording/sign requirements so he kept the old outdated signs. Measures approx 14 x 20. Great condition. The National Screw and Manufacturing Company was incorporated in May of 1889 as the National Screw and Tack Company and operated near East 55th Street and Carnegie Avenue in Cleveland. Ohio. This is a vintage brass advertising plate/plaque sign which reads: BULIT BY THE VILTER MANUFACTURING CO. MILWAUKEE. WIS. The plaque is 10 1/2' x 7 1/2' and is 2lbs 6.5ozs. in weight. Not ink, so still very clear. Where there is a natural knot in the wood, the'N' in Manufacturing did not burn into the wood as dark, but this lightened color was not from fading or wear on the letter. The American Manufacturing Company of Texas(AMCOT) conducted specialized tube elongation and billet piercing tests on uranium metal for National Lead Company of Ohio(Fernald) The tube elongation tests were conducted from July to September 1961 and involved approximately 7 tons of uranium. 211 Punch and Die for Incandescent Lamp Socket Sign Manufacturing
You are looking at a used 211 punch. Die and holder set. Struck with a hammer, it produces a knockout commonly used in the sign industry for mounting incandescent lamp medium base sockets. The set has seen some use. The striking bolt has mushroomed and been re-ground. It can be replaced. The cutting edges of both the punch and die are in fairly good shape, with the only noticable bad spot on one of the small square tabs. The sample shown is punched in.063 aluminum. It has some burr on the tabs but is not too bad. These sets cost well over $100 new. I will remove the centering pin for shipping. Payment is required within 5 days after the close of auction. Ohio. it is yellow and black on aluminum. The company made agricultural machines(Vac-A-Way Seed Cleaner) and vending machine. They also produced popular toys. Not sure what this came off of or if it was even mounted, it came from a Columbus, Ohio estate. The face has a few scratches and some spots of discoloration, please see picture. Harry moved his Plain City ... morefoundry business to Westerville loading his equipment on railroad cars for the journey to the new J. W. Hance Foundry Co. The company was a family business. Pooling the efforts of Harry and his father, J.W. Hance. Initially, the company made parts for other manufacturing businesses. But then Harry invented a noveltoy that became popular with young people– the Hance gocycle. In 1912 he began to build the two-wheeled, wooden scooters(similar to the razor scooters of today) at his Westerville plant. In thebeginning Harry devoted only a small area of his foundry to the new product, unsure of its success. Afew gocycles were shipped weekly to different parts of the country.
