Antique French Hemp Fabric Bed Sheet Monogram Material Chanvre Pair Imperfect x2 Ref BZ This listing for TWO antique French hemp bed sheets. They are a pair with identical monograms. And identical sizes. They are very heavy with lots of texture. But being over 100 years old they are smooth to the touch and no longer coarse. Thick and heavy and floppy in an offwhite colour. With traces of the original ecru colour in faint stripes and areas, these are a fantastic find. Fabulously ancient fabric in a large quantity! They both have a centre seam which shows that they were loomed on the narrow looms which were replaced in this part of France in 1908. So they are over 100 years old. Some of the seam has been resewn with large naive stitches, but easily cut these stitches to make 2 panels! They both have small(7"x3" or 17cmx7.5cm) LL monograms ... morein white. One having the letters together, and the second panel has the letters separate. One of the panels is actually stamped'Toile Chanvre' or'hemp fabric' Colour: Off White. Dimensions: 80" 203cm wide by 110" or 280cm long Condition: They both have large areas of repairs. The odd rust mark, and some parts of the selvedge are a bit raggedy with age.
