This unit connects to the USB port of either a Mac or Windows machine. I purchased 2 of these units a year ago. Thinking I’d have a spare if I ever had any problems with my main unit. Dymo Twin Turbo Label Writer and 5 lb USB Postal scale. Has all included software and cords. As well as quite a few labels and stamps. I was printing stamps on the right side, and recently the printer has been leaving off part of the AG in postage, the last S in class and the last 2 numbers in the code above the zip code. I write them in with a pen(see photo) but the bar code is fine so I don't believe it's actually necessary. You can use either side to print the stamps but I assume it just needs cleaned, and there are unopened cleaning cards included in the box. Works with PC or Mac. The scale model number is 40149. Power and USB cord for the printer included, USB for the scale is included-it does not require a separate power cord. About half a roll of stamps are loaded, needs a new roll of shipping labels, cheap on ebay, like $3. Put your letter or package from 1 ounce up to 5 lbs on the scale and Dymo Stamps software walks you thru envelope/post card/package sizes and desired shipping(1st class, Priority, media mail, parcel post, etc) and tells you how much, and then just print it out. Bim bam. I have the XP disc for the label writer, but you will still need to open an account with Dymo on line and they will download you ... moretheir latest. Just loaded the XP on my new Windows 8 and it loaded fine, but still gets kicked over to Dymo on line for latest stuff. Same with the Dymo Stamps software. You have to go thru Dymo on-line to get their postage software by opening an account. There is no CD for Dymo stamps as far as I know. When postage rates change, they will send you a message to update. Both of these units work excellent, great time savers and print a professional looking letter/package. Add your logos to the shipping labels. Your barcodes, memos. The software automatically prints the USPS destination barcode on the label. All different size mailing labels and they are all customizable. Both rolls are easy to load. Really run flawlessly. These have minimal use, were at my home office.
