The reason I believe this is an old Sheetrock saw is that I saw a modern version of the tool. It was not German made. This one was. No way do I believe this was made for fish! It would tear it to pieces! It does appear to be missing the brass ring at the top of the handle. It also is missing the tack found at the bottom of some old tools. The paint is wearing away.
