Up for your bidding consideration is this used Porter Cable'Whisper Series' 4x24 hand held belt sander. This tool is in overall very good usable condition and works very well. It has been over painted with a light yellowish green paint(obviously a company color) But this does not affect the performance of the tool. It does have a custom saw dust vacuum port attachment on the back of the tool and the factory port was blocked off. This can be removed and the factory port can be reopened, if desired. The factory electrical plug has been replaced with a heavier duty replacement piece, but the cord is in good condition. The provided pictures should speak for themselves. There is much detail to see. This sander. Known by some as the"Locomotive Style" is a classic workhorse and was built in Syracuse, NY. It has no issues and runs perfectly. There is full power and very little sparking at the brushes. It has a new Porter-Cable grounded power cord and a new cork and metal platen. The front wheel needle bearings were cleaned and greased. The oil was changed and filled to the proper level. It's chain drive was cleaned and re-greased. The switch clicks right on and can stay on with the press of a button. The belt tracking is smooth and effortless. The inner belt wear bar shows little use. The drive wheel ... moreis smooth and clean. No broken or dented parts on the frame. The balance and weight of these sanders is perfect. Clearly the nicest hand held belt sanders ever built. Sadly these are no longer made because they just became too expensive to produce, and they lasted too long. Made in the day when you repaired your tools instead of throwing them away. Porter Cable BB10 Dustless Take-About 4" Belt Sander Locomotive
Motor sounds good and runs strong. The drive roller does spin like it should and the other roller is free. There is a chip out of the front handle and the wiring needs something done with it as the outer layer of insulation is really bad at places. It should be replaced but at the very least it needs lots of taping with electrical tape. It should also be oiled before you use it as it is straight from an estate. The dust bag has some holes in it. Switch works good. The dark spots you see are some hardened grease that needs cleaned off.
