Going, going.

By Tom Chandler 6/5/2006

Waiting for the other slugs to show - we're heading for Stonefly Alley on the Rogue, and they're late. I hate late. Names will be named later.

Also, will somebody please let me know when the Trout Underground stopped showing up correctly on Internet Explorer? Seems to be pushing the sidebar down, though Firefox works perfectly (it almost always does -- I haven't used Internet Explorer in a long time...) See you on the Rogue, Tom Chandler

As the author of the decade leading fly fishing blog Trout Underground, Tom believes that fishing is not about measuring the experience but instead of about having fun. As a staunch environmentalist, he brings to the Yobi Community thought leadership on environmental and access issues facing us today.

In Gus's about, he mentions working with Mosaic 0.9. I was working at Silicon Graphics when Jim Clark brought Marc Andreessen around with the idea of building a company around it. To show you how smart I am, my thought at the time was, "Who would abandon unix command line web tools for this?". In my defense, the web in the late 70's and 80's was made up of Universities, military, research sites and ... more high tech companies. If you weren't a propeller head, you were not on the web. The 90's of course changed all that. I have to laugh at how myopiac most of us were at the time. I think both Gus and I have worked on this stuff for a while. I can't wait to see the pics from your trip. I lost a steelhead Saturday night on my 3 weight. It hit a size 14 soft hackle. Big fish. I wish I would have been able to land it.

Thanks guys! I re-sized the Beetle Bug pic, and all appears well. I'd been keeping max image sizes at 480, but somehow that one snuck through. Nice to know we've got some technical firepower around here as my troubleshooting skills involve sacrificing chickens and reading entrails (apparently that sums up the Microsoft Troubleshooting Process too). Gus -- great travelogue. Next time keep the shoes ... more in sight... It's after 11, I just got home, and I'm beat. A full report on the stoneflies tomorrow; the short version is I only saw three but there were still enough fish on the dry to keep it interesting. I think the hatch may be over tho... Right out of the gate I broke off a big steelhead, and then Chris Raine landed his 21" beauty. More (and pics) tomorrow.

As for when the problem first appeared, I have an answer: I don't know. But-- I first noticed it about 24 hours ago. (It's now 6 AM in Taipei on Tuesday; you do the math, I haven't had my coffee yet.) I thought you were maybe working on the page or something when I first saw it, so I didn't report it then. Now I know to report your problems as soon as I see them. Speaking of problems, have you reported ... more your "I hate late" issue to Non-Procrastinators Anonymous? They have a 47-step program for people just like you. I got about half-way through it, and then joined Procrastinators of America. They're sending me my membership card as soon as they get around to it... TR
