Boyd Glass OLD Small Swan Candy Dish RUBINA 1985 FUND
What is being offered now is the Boyd Glass Small Swan Candy Dish or Salt Dip in the color Rubina. A color that has blue. Green, and red. This is an older one. It was color number 10 in the series of colors run in this mould and it was made on 12/20/1985. This was originally a Cambridge Glass mould, and then an Imperial Glass mould, but the Boyds bought the mould when Imperial Glass went out of business in the 1980's. The first thing we did was put the Boyd Glass logo on the mould so that everyone would know who made each piece. We are listing quite a bit of Boyd Glass this week and do combine shipments to save you shipping money so make sure to see it all! And Boyds will not repeat a color in any mould so that makes Boyd Glass highly collectible. I was the tall, thin, moustache faced, 20-something year old that worked in the factory. If you took the"tour" I was probably the employee that explained the glass process to you while you watched us work. I truly enjoyed my time with the Boyd's. The time I spent at Boyd Glass is a memorable time in my life that I will not forget. I still count the Boyd family among my friends. I told my wife that the glass I purchased while employed at Boyd's and since then would be sold to help pay for our two daughters college educations and even though they have both graduated, we will be paying off the debt for some time to come and my wife is making sure that I keep to my plan. They chose to remove our from all their moulds.Rather than compromise the value of collectors pieces,thus no more marked Glass will be made& The value will continue to increase on these items. They decided to employ a machinist who is skillful at removing trademarks from all 200-plus moulds. With more than 45 years' experience. He painstakingly peened out our mark and then used a grinder to smooth the cast iron surface markings. John and Bernard took the moulds apart and carried the portion of the mould with the mark to him, as he worked at the press plate. This activity also insured that their glassware will retain its worth for years to come.

Ohio in a former Cambridge Glass company mold for the# 1040 Style 1 swan. This factory was formerly Degenhart Glass. The red/milk glass slag color is called Indian Red. According to the following website this piece would have been made in the 1978-1983 period http:www.boydglass.net/our-products/our-trademark.html The shape of this salt is pictured as entry# 935 in the book 5.000 Open Salts by William Heacock& Patricia Johnson. However. This one is an original Cambridge Glass swan. I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability.
