Clarice Cliff and Susie Cooper were british pottery artisans and contemporaries of one another. These pitchers(or"jugs" in England) are both circa 1940s. The larger pitcher is from Susie Cooper Productions. Crowns Works, Burslem, England. It is the"Dresden Spray" design. The Clarice Cliff is from Newport Pottery. England. I don't know the name of the Clarice Cliff pattern. The Susie Cooper is in excellent condition! The black mark you see on the base is a thread from the fabric it is sitting on. The Clarice Cliff has a slight chip on the base underneath the spout and has some crazing. I think the crazing only adds to its charm. I have posted a photo of the chip. Montana dated October 28, 1898. This is a printed form measuring about 9" x 5.5" with handwritten entries and an attractive vignette of the company's parrot logo. This report shows a load of ore received from what looks like Berkins& Davish with a net weight of 46.524 pounds yielding.7 ounces of silver and 1.88 ounces of gold per ton for a net payout of $532.52 after freight charges. The verso has an inscription with some figures titled Parrot Smelter Returns. This is an original antique produced almost 115 years ago and a great artifact of Butte. Great bit of space history written by the seven astronauts noted on the dust jacket. The jacket is in pretty bad shape. Rips, tears, missing parts. The book is in what I would call good condition but is probably book rated as fair condition. Not sure of how this works so I will describe it as I see it. The actual book is gray in color with WE SEVEN underlined on the cover. It is a hard copy and the outside cover, front and back looks slightly used. Inside, the picture from cover to 1st page has the shuttle being launched and the picture that covers both pages is split in the center. Turning the page, there is a small stain on the left page and a small stain on the right page where it looks like something was ... moresmashed between the pages. On the right side, the numbers 4-2-63- 3-1-$-Bill's is written at top of page. This is pretty much how I see it. The rest of the book looks very much in tact and in good condition having no rips, or bends in pages and appears not to have been read much. The Set consists of a Coffee Pot. Sugar Bowl, Milk Jug, 6 Cups and 6 Saucers. The cofee pot stands 21 cms tall. The saucers are 12.5 cms in diameter and the cups are each 6 cms tall. Rare Susie Cooper 1930's Nosegay Blue Kestrel Teapot & Cup & Saucer 14 Pc. Set
For your collecting and bidding consideration we offer a Rare Susie Cooper 1930's Kestrel Shape Teapot& Cup& Saucer Set Of 14 Pieces In The Nosegay Blue Pattern. Susie Cooper(1902-1995) was a well known designer/artist in England who worked for A.E. Gray from 1922-1929 and started her own pottery in Burslem. England in 1930 with the Crown Works logo in use since 1931. This is the same year that the Kestrel Shape was designed along with the"Nosegay Blue" pattern. The set offered here consists of a Teapot with Lid and 6 Cups and 6 Saucers for a total of 14 pieces. The teapot measures 5"Diameter x 5&1/2" High with the Lid On and 8&1/2" Across from the Spout to the Handle and is painted on both sides. Each cup measures 2&1/2" Diameter x 2&1/4" High and 3&1/4" Across to the ... moreHandle and they are painted on one side only. Each saucer measures 4&3/4" Diameter x 1/2" High and are painted in the center with a wide blue band around the top inner rim. There is some light crazing on all of the pieces and one saucer has a small brown area on the back side. There are no chips or cracks to the cups or saucers. The teapot does have some chips to the inside rim but this is not seen with the lid on. The spout is also chipped but it could be filed smooth if someone has the know how or chooses to have this done. None of this prevents the function of the teapot and the spout damage is not that noticeable if you just want to use the set for display. All pieces are nicely marked with the Susie Cooper trademark and the Teapot is marked: A Susie Cooper Production. Crown Works, Burslem, England and number 994 and an incised number 30. This is a delightful Art Deco style set that would compliment any collection or any table setting from that time period. The"Nosegay" in Blue is rarely seen as you usually see it in green or pink.
