vintage Eico 1050 variable DC power supply 12v
This is a neat vintage Eico DC variable power supply/ battery charger model 1050. It has two settings. 6v 10 amp and 12v 6 amp continuous(6v 20 amp 12v 12 amp intermittent) There is a knob where you can adjust the voltage for each range and a dc voltmeter and amp meter to monitor the output. It was putting out voltage on the 12v setting, I didn't notice the meter indicate anything on the 6v setting, so that might need to be looked at. This is very old school probably from the 50's. you can find the manual online and if memory serves correctly it uses selenium rectifiers instead of solid state bridge rectifiers, I think the voltage adjust is an auto-transformer. Has a longer cord someone spliced on, see pics. Sold as-is, no returns.

EICO 1064S Variable Power Supply/ Battery Elliminator The 1064S carries on the success and tradition of the earlier 1064. But replaces the selenium stack rectifiers with high current diodes in heat sinks. It uses an auto-transformer(or Variac) as the means of voltage adjustment. You adjust the voltage at the secondary of the transformer. Obtaining the maximum current of the transformer, then it is rectified and filtered, using a large LC filter(10,000mf total and 5 mh choke) No switching noise from this unit! This unit provides adjustable voltage at high currents. I measured 10 amps at 10 volts into 1 ohm. With about 100mv of ripple. I was able to obtain 13.8 amps at 13.8v into 1 ohm max on the 12 v range. This is more than double the rated amperage in its specs, for the 12V position. The 6 v range is supposed to provide up to 20A, but I ... morewas only able to obtain about 8.3 amps max. I do not know the source of the problem on this range. I have added two additional 4800Mfd capacitors. For additional filtering, replaced a broken fuse holder and eliminated a sticking voltmeter problem that seems to have been a problem with this model.
