445nm HIGH POWER 2W+ blue laser diode w/lens from Casio XJ projector
High power 2 Watt + 445nm laser diode pull from Casio XJ Series projector. The finished laser in pics is not for sale. This is to illustrate how you can build an awesome lab or show laser from your own parts. I was not happy with the heat sinking ability of the little Chinese modules available out there. They use a press in diode mount that does nothing for the other side of the diode. I used two back to back press in diode holders and indium foil. That and more copper plates and a one inch fan. This little monster is more efficient than I thought. After testing for 5 minutes it remained cool to the touch even without the fan! In the first pic I did ad a little smoke as it was taken in daylight. The other pic shows it without the smoke. These are ridiculously powerful and hot! I do NOT recommend building a"pointer" from these. They ... moreare just too dangerous. Even a reflection off a window will bounce 8% of the beam back at you. 4% for each side of the glass. To clarify. At 2 watts that would be 160mw. Enough to blind you quick! Great for light show projectors and lab style lasers. This auction is for one 2 watt + laser diode w/shorting block for esd protection and the lens pulled from the same projector only. They will be shipped in an anti-static bag and foam cushioning. The projector these came from had about 600 hours on it. That leaves around 19.400 hrs left on the diode. The photo through my microscope shows the identifying emblem for the 2 watt lasers on the case. The 2 Watts have a circle above the square where the 1 Watts do not. I recommend you use a driver circuit that has esd protection such as a"lasorb" device and soft start. They require around 5VDC@ 1.8 A max. Shoulder style tube with an exaggerated torso& shoulders(Also known as CG2835A, and 38181) Amazingly, several years back, this tube fell 20 feet from the upper level of our garage, and landed on the blacktop, without breaking. There was only a tiny shard of glass that came loose, within the envelope(from the inner shaft) but nothing that ever effected the performance at all. Tests strong at 90 on a Jackson 648 DPC tester(with 70 being the lower range for good) We also tested the tube for leakage and shorts, with no problems at all. When you buy vacuum tubes, you want to make sure that they are good-we are proficient at using this tester, and have used it for many years with very few problems. This is a 5U high 19" rack. Fully serviced. PSU recapped. VU and pilot light functional. XLR cables installed(with strain relief) 220V mains. European power cable included. Classic diode bridge limiter à la Siemens U273 or Neve 2254. Highest build quality. All point to point. 4 huge transformers by"Transcore" in the signal path: Input. Output and two interstage.
