Welcome to my auction! Fantastic condition. 40W Super high power laser diode! Complete with diode. Fiber, pilot(Aiming) laser, pilot laser power supply, focusing head, case, and FAP adapter to allow use of any size fiber length you need! Look at the photos to see how tight of a beam the focus head makes! This unit was originally part of a much larger laser welding machine that was freight damaged. I removed these parts which is all that's needed to make your own welder/cutter, 3D SLS/SLA printer, laser soldering gun. I planned on using it for a CNC laser cutter but that plan got scrapped because my controller died. This laser has very few hours on it. Mainly just testing it out and fitting it to my machine. This can also be used as a pump laser to make a very high power green 532nm laser! Up for auction is a collectable vintage Introductory Sample Hughes Glass Germanium Diode along with the original plastic case with descriptive label. The label text is: INTRODUCTORY SAMPLE*HUGHES GERMANIUM DIODE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT LABORATORIES HUGHES AIRCRAFT CO. CULVER CITY, CALIF. PATENT APPLIED FOR I would estimate the date of manufacturer to be the early to mid 1950s. Google Hughes semiconductor germanium diode and the first link to the smecc site will show the images of the Hughes brochure for this device. The leads on this example are of original length. Show no signs of soldering or forming but do show some surface oxidation. Diodes of this vintage in this condition are not common and the plastic case is rare. The plastic case does have a crack on the side and care must be taken while opening the case- see photo. The plastic ... morecase is complete and there are no missing pieces. The case opens and closes smoothly. I use a sharp knife on the seam to start the open process. The label is mildly faded. And one corner is lifting. All printing is still clear and readable. I tested the diode with a low voltage supply scan(2 VDC to +2 VDC with series 3k6 resistor) and can confirm that the device does function as a germanium diode(see photo of I-V trace) with the expected forward junction voltage between 0.2 and 0.3 Volts. This device predates modern“1N” part numbers. Given its age and rarity I would not anticipate this device being used for circuit repair. D ue to age and uncertainty of use before my time I am describing the device as used although I see no signs of use. This diode is from the estate of a long retired radio repairman.
