This is a great playing mouthpiece designed to reproduce the sound of vintage Meyers, and it is MUCH BETTER than the standard Meyer medium chamber mouthpieces. This is only going because I have too many mouthpieces; it is in great condition, but it does have some teeth marks that are just scratches; the rubber on these tends to be soft. Though, remains mostly bright. There are a few spots of rust. But they are confined to joints. All of the keys operated smoothly and felt quite precise. The mother of pearl inlays on the keys all look quite good; the polished ... moresteel finish on the keys. Though, is tarnished and cloudy in places. The felt stop pads look very good. Too. The pads all look supple and appear to seal well. All springs felt consistent and smooth. As mentioned above. The saxophone has many scratches, a few scuffs and some dents. The scratches are concentrated on the bell. The U-section and the back of the main tube, especially around the strap loop. The dents are primarily on the bell and the U-section. Though there are a few small ones elsewhere, including the neck and main tube. There are some scuffs on the bottom of the U-section. Rust appears to be confined to joints and brazed areas. Like where the hardware is mounted to the body. The neck is in good condition with some scratching and wear and also one significant dent. The cork for the mouthpiece is in very nice condition. The key operates easily. Two mouthpieces are included: one appears to be original. It’s marked with a signature of Leo M. Vintage Selmer M20 Magni-Tone Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece and Ligature
The main item in this auction is the mouthpiece. The ligature is an extra incentive! Returns will only be considered for condition issues that relate to the mouthpiece alone. Any problems you have with the ligature will not be taken into consideration for a return. Please look closely at all of the photographs before bidding on this item. This is one of the harder to find high end vintage mouthpieces and ligatures. Selmer only produced this mouthpiece for a short time here in America. It's exterior is somewhat similar to a short shank soloist. But more angular and without the scroll engraving around the shank ring. But the interior of this mouthpiece is where Elkhart Selmer factory really changed things up from the Paris Selmer group. Magni-Tone mouthpieces have a completely different chamber, baffle, and throat then their Soloist cousin. ... moreThe baffle is higher, the side walls are deeply curved and smoothed out, the chamber is totally round and the throat is much smaller. These characteristics all combine to create a darker, warmer, slightly fuzzier sounding mouthpiece then any other Selmer mouthpiece that I have ever tried. And I've played ALOT of vintage and modern Selmer mouthpieces. Probably well over 75 various makes and models. This is the first Magni-Tone I've been able to get my hands on. They don't pop out on eBay very often at all. I've only seen one other Magni-Tone piece before and it sold for over $500. But that item also included a matching vintage Magni-Tone ligature. The condition of this mouthpiece and ligature are excellent. The beak has some very very light teeth scratched, but no actual bite marks or indentations. The outside of the barrel has some ligature scratches. The rails, tip, table, baffle, chamber, and throat are in immaculate condition. I am a student Saxophone Player and like many others who have come before me. I have spent some good money on mouthpieces trying to find the sound for me. I am auctioning off all of the mouthpieces that I don't use. All are very lightly used and mostly just long enough to decide if I like them. They are all very nice. Just not the sound I am looking for. This one here is a Claude Lakey Jazz 6*3. It is a good mouthpiece, but too bright for my taste. It is a ssmooth bright though. For me, the tip opening is a bit much. I would prefer a 5*3 opening. As a beginner, it is just not easy for me to control. I have only used this about 15 times. Selmer S80 C * Star Alto Sax Mouthpiece Lot Theo Wanne Pouch Bay Ligature
Up for auction is a lot that includes a Selmer S80 alto saxophone mouthpiece. A Theo Wanne mouthpiece pouch, and a Bay ligature. All items are used. The mouthpiece plays well and the tip and rails look good. It is showing some discoloration from age, which I have tried to show in the pictures. There are some minor tooth marks and scratching on the exterior which does not affect its playability. The mouthpiece pouch looks great and keeps your mouthpiece from moving around your case and possibly getting damaged. The Bay ligature did have a decorative band that was removed, but it sounds and responds just the same and looks a bit better in my opinion. Shipping is 10.00 in the lower 48 including tracking. Vintage 50s or 60s Selmer 2 screw alto saxophone ligature. Ligature has the original screws(with the pointy ends) and is in good shape. Solder points are good. Slight lacquer wear and dark patina to the lig. Ligature has good shape to it and hasn't been squashed. These ligatures are becoming harder to find since Selmer does not make the 2 screw ligatures anymore. Made to fit Selmer Soloist mouthpieces. Does not include the cap. Here is a Conn Comet 3 alto sax mouthpiece in black with original Moon and Star Ligature. Included is a non original metal cap that fits perfectly. Bonade alto saxophone ligature. This ligature has employs a simple but ingenious design whereby the reed is only contacted by two thin metal bars. This prevents the bulk of the material of the ligature from stifling the vibration of the reed and thus improves tone and response. This is the original standard(bottom screw) version of Bonade's popular ligature. It looks to be nickel plated and has some very minor wear and tarnish. But is in great physical condition.
