This is a vintage. Hard side Barnett& Jaffe, Baja slide carrying, storage case. The case measures 10" by 5" in size and has two"doors" that open to reveal trays for slde storage. The outside of the case is decorated with a striped tweed pattern. The trays are loose/removeable from the case, formerly glued, and there is dried dark residue behind the trays. I have a very nice large cast iron deadbolt slide rim lock with matching catch for your consideration. Truly a hard to find large size where the box measures 7 x 4 1/2 inches. Manufactured by Norwalk Lock Works. Some old paint and minor surface rust will clean up nicely for reuse and a refinish if you wish. Upon inspection all the flat spring tumblers are in nice condition for reuse. There is no key so you will have to bring to a locksmith or find one that works. This uses an early skeleton flat style key. See pics closely. No cracks or breaks. Questions encouraged other wise what you see is what you get. Bring some real character to your home. We included a photo of the page in Sargent's 1880 catalog showing this flushbolt. The plate and rod/bolt are solid. Heavy, thick, cast iron, and the knob is cast bronze. If you are not familiar with this type of hardware. I t's the locking mechanism installed on one of the doors in a pair of double doors. For the purpose of keeping one door stationary, while allowing the other to swing freely(see last photos for a visual) The plate has a lovely. Aesthetic(Eastlake) style design. Originally. The raised portions of the design were bronze-plated, and the recessed portions were painted with a black, enamel paint. Unfortunately, only traces ... moreof plating remain, but most of the black paint is intact. At the point of salvage. The lock was dirty and rusty(see photo under"Prior to restoration" Since then, we've cleaned and polished the plate and knob to the best of our ability. Also.
