A rather battered old microscope by Carl Zeiss Jena which I think dates to the late 19th Century. The serial number is. 41558. I don't know very much about these kinds of things but it seems to be fully functional apart from the little mirror which has some damage to the silvering. Especially on the concave side. All lenses are intact and unbroken. The body is made from brass and some kind of alloy. Most of the black paint is missing from the alloy. Please view the photographs. If you have any questions. Carl Zeiss Stage and Specimen Slide Holder Jena West Germany Part # 37 34 15
This item is being sold with NO RESERVE Up for auction is a Carl Zeiss stage and specimen holder built in West Germany(Part# 37 34 15) This stage was recently removed from one of our older microscopes that was being retired. The movement of the specimen holder along the Y-Axis is very smooth. The movement of the specimen holder along the X-Axis is smooth near the middle and all the way to the right of the stage. But it will not go completely over to the left side of the stage when using the adjustment knob. There is a small plastic plate with teeth along one edge, that is fastened under the stage by two screws(see close up pics of plate on and off of the stage) On this stage, several of the teeth on the plastic plate are damaged(see pic) which is why it won't move the specimen holder all the way to the left edge of the stage. We have ... moreused this stage(in the condition that it is in) for several years without any problems, because we always use standard size microscope slides, so there was never a reason to move the specimen holder away from the center of the stage, but you could always move the specimen holder manually if you did need to move it past the edge of the stage. Overall this is a very clean stage and it gets the job done. The other piece of the mechanism(gear) that moves the stage along the X-Axis is made out of steel. And it is still in perfect condition, so the only thing that would need to be done to make this stage 100% perfect would be to replace the plastic plate.
